I don't know where everybody gets the idea that Guinness is strong! Dark does not always mean strong. Guiness is around 4% alc. I believe.

Anyways I suggest any type of Hefeweizen, maybe Pyramid, with a squeeze of lemon. Very smooth, not bitter. Hef is an unfiltered wheat beer so it'll look cloudy.

Hoegarden and Hacker-Pschorr are two of my recent fav's.

Weis beer. A really tasty and unique style. Not for everyone.

Amberbock is awesome and it will not break you wallet while your buying it either.

I've been saying it for awhile now, but Moosehead

Tried it and I actually like it until the next morning when I had a killer hang over ( hang over=12 pack of Moose head).

I recommend. Dos Equis Lager (green bottle) which by the way is the beer Michael Bolten drinks in the movie Office Space. There is also Dos Equis Amber (brown bottle). Both are good beers. The amber is a little stronger tasting compared to the Lager but they both taste great.

Not to sound mean-spirited, but nearly all of the suggestions so far are mass-manufactured and ultimately dull IMO. There must be some decent microbrews in Texas - a fresh, locally-brewed beer will pretty much always trounce your standard Killian's/Natural Light/Icehouse fare hands-down.

I like Pale Ales only if they are on tap (Bass, Newcastle). Same goes for Guinness.

Lagers I drink from the bottle.

Beck's (my latest consistent infatuation)
Heineken (an old standby)
Grolsch
Harp

are my favorites...

If I'm cost conscious, I'll drink Labatt's or Molson Canadian (hard for me to find in the midwest, though).
