Yup, I've re-fallen to the dark side. It's been almost 5 years since I've played Diablo 2 and yet somehow I got sucked in...again. I quit right when the 1.10 or whatever came out since all of my great characters suddenly sucked (stupid Blizzard!). Forgot how much I loved the game though (still ranks as my favorite game of all time).

Anyone on here still play??

I still play a bit on East non-ladder. Mostly just dueling. I can hook you up with some gear if you want, but you probably want to play on ladder.

I found my missing disc one last night, but managed to avoid installing it.

Oooh, I just checked the Wine AppDB - Diablo II is supported. This is too good to pass up.

I installed Diablo II last summer. I got an 87 sorc in abuot 5 days, then just spent another week or two finding equipment. Finally I got some friends to join me so we can create progressive characters and enjoy the story together, but after a total of a month and a half, I quit.

I may load Diablo back up this summer, however. That game is just too easy to get into.

That'd be great.

What I REALLY need to know is some builds that work. That's the biggest reason I quit when 1.10 came out, I had a phenomenal lvl 95 PvP Paladin (Zealot) and PvP lvl 98 Amazon (Jav/Bow) both fully decked out with the works and a MF Sorc, and then were all rendered useless thanks to one skill boosting another.

I'd LOVE to make another Zealot Paladin as it was my favorite character/build, but I dunno if it's worth making anymore. Do Zealots survive in 1.10 (or 1.11 now)? Last time I checked the only Pally's anyone used were hammer or hand (booooooooooooooooooring!).

Never really liked Nec's/Assassins/Druids. Barbs were fun if you've got the equipment to use with 'em.

So, are there any melee pally builds that work nowadays? Goofing around this morning I got through Act 1, lvl 14, and I've only spent 2 skill points thus far to leave him open for a build.

I tried starting up again a year or two ago but no one I knew was playing and it's tough starting from the ground again after having really great characters...sigh.

So yeah...any place to find some builds?

My main accounts are happybunny and rubberbunny.

Zealots are usable pvm, but in pvp they can't catch anybody. You might want to make an mfer first though. Most melee pallys are smiters using grief. The diabloii.net class specific forums should have plenty of builds.

Uh, I thought I had forgotten about my long lost weakness :( Now I must reinstall it and let it take over my life until I hit level 99...

Yeah, zealots never could catch anyone, but I only dueled other pallys with him. Zon was my other character killer. Windforce + lots of dex got the job done.

I had a couple zealots and I love the build. That was in 1.10 I think.

I had amazing gears, so it got to the point where I would power lvl/boost char thru game, level him from 1 to 60 in hell chaos runs, then baal till about 90. Then slap geat on and done...all in all lvlv 90 with gears in maybe a day. Or less. That got boring pretty soon.

If you play on USEast Ladder and have a melee character I might be able to hook you up with some items or at least some Gold to get you started. I myself am playing very rarely, and all of my friends quit it a long time ago, I'm just playing alone every now and then to keep my account alive.

Just PM me if you feel like you need some help.

Looks like the ladder resets in 10 days :( Feel free to add me to your friends list (kabob983 is the account).

I never really got into the power leveling (which is a new term apparently, back in the day it was leeching). I actually enjoyed going through the game. Eventually I'd hit a high level and start the PvP, but I worked at it.

That ladder resets is a good thing. Wait until it resets for week or two of good gameplay.

In my opinion,
Powerleveling = rushing + leeching.

I had the gears and whatnot, multiple keys, etc...so I would rush my other chars so I can try out new builds. So if I wanted to make a bowazon (which kinda sucks early on), I would bring her up to ~85, allocate skill/stat and put gears on - done.

I did not PvP because PvP scene sucked. Too many hacked/godly gears and kids.

Who said the ladder is resetting? Unless there's an official announcement, those people are lying as some people always do.

PvP is entirely doable outside of the TMC using hammerdin, with TMC being a hack causing them to cast extremely fast. I don't even duel with common builds and I still do pretty well. You just have to ignore the "QQ, ezpk, zzzzz" kiddies and you can have a good time. At this point, I think I've made pretty much every build including entirely useless ones (mind-blast only sin, valk only zon, grim-ward/howl barb), so it's just pvp that's left.

If you like Diablo2 you will LOVE Mythos. Sign up for the closed beta, most people are a shoe in and get accepted all the time. Its going to be a FREE MMO to. I been playing it and its been good times, it has that same camera angle that Diablo series has, in fact the developers on it, lots of them worked on the diablo games before they left Blizzard.

They are also putting in new camera modes like WoW has, but thats just going to be a extra view, the default view is like the diablo games. Has lots of stuff like the diablo series had. My left mouse button is about to go out from all the clicking like it did with diablo :p

I assumed it was because my character is lvl 20 and still says "10 days left." Mayhaps I'm incorrect?

Also, it's been a while, to add an account to the /f list is it /f add *account name or just /f add account name??

Oh...10 days is because you played the char less than 2 hours. Play it for 2 hours (total) and this will go away.

As for /f add I think it is with the *

You can test my inactive account, do this:

/f add *megavovan

then do /f list
if it is not there, do it without the *

and then /f remove megavovan

MMO or an action RPG with online capabilities? Does it have a persistent world that you do the vast majority of your quests in where you encounter players outside of your party?

What did you use for your skills/stat points on the zealot??

I'm all for it.

Heck, if you all are at all interested I'll restart my character and we can go through the game together as n00bs. :)

Sad, I found Griswold's edge and leaped for joy...man I hate starting from the beginning!!

Typical skills would be fanat, zeal, holy shield, zeal's synergies. A tweaked zealot would have enough dex to max block and then put the rest into vit, but you probably don't have the luxury of having no points in strength, so enough strength/dex for gear/block and the rest into vit.

If I'm ever on when you're on I be sure to hook you up a bit.
