So I had my girlfriend pick out a case

Basically, I want to upgrade in a few months, and she's going to get my hand-me-downs, plus a couple new parts, to build a new computer for her. I had her pick out what her case is going to be by linking her to the Newegg case page and having her pick one.

She picked the Antec Nine Hundred.

I'm so proud.

Why, as it is highly unlikely that the NH would be really appropriate to her needs. Besides, most females don't care for a big, black lump of anything in their space. Are you sure you didn't exert undue influence?..

I didn't say anything about any case. She picked that one because she likes how it looks, and it runs cool.

Why wouldn't it be appropriate for the needs of a gamer?

Poor Jax, can't seem to catch a break in any of his threads.

I know if I had my g/f pick, she'd go for a pink one lol.

Yeah, but to be fair, part of why I can't catch a break is that nobody knows me and I tend to post as if people do. I should set up a sig.

I gotta say, I like that my girlfriend knows nothing about computers or cars. I start rambling on about what I'm doing and she'll stand there, staring off into space, completely ignoring what I say but, making an effort to seem interested then when I'm done she's happy for me that I'm having fun and goes and does homework or watches TV. I have friends for talking shop with, I like that she's dumb.

How old are you? You mention homework... are you still in high school, or are you in college?

Most people I knew in highschool felt as you do.

I'm 22, and having a girl who I can talk computers with is AWESOME.

Anyone else tempted to say "that's not what your <insert appropriate female relative> said last night?"

I was tempted, but passed on it. And the appropriate relative for such a comment is ALWAYS "your mom" or "your sister". Either works, they're interchangeable.

i just want to say wow..

My best friend is a girl and i handle all her upgrades.

On her last upgrade a quadcore i offered to bling it out for her with the complete h2o package for free. I had a lot of stuff laying around.

Needless to say she freaked out and had me remove about 400 dollars of h2o gear because she didnt want to handle cleaning the radiator. :p

Unless your rubycon, or Amber, low maintaince, trouble free computer for females FTW!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, my youngest is 22! I'm 54. My girlfriend is 26 and working on her masters degree in speach(sciences or something like that). Trust me, when you get to my age you realize that you were right in your thinking way back when and everything since was just a learning experience. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids and am extremely glad to have had and raised them and if I had to do it again, I would do it pretty much the same but, women change a lot when they hit menopause and not always for the better. The kids are out of the house and doing their thing, the old lady was way too content in getting old so, out with the old and in with the new, and this time I've done the family thing so thats out of the way, it's time to have some fun!

Is that a uATX SFF case with 5 - 120mm fans and a removable motherboard tray?!?!?!?

I actually like it. It doesn't come in green though does it?

mATX, but yes. :) She did a good job picking out a case. And I think it only comes in blue. Might not be too hard to mod though.

EDIT: OP, nice sig! Gamer wife's are even better! ;)

I concur. :D Too bad mine started playing WoW a couple years ago. :( Well, I can still get her to occasionally play Generals or DotA, but she used to play a lot more stuff, including shooters like UT.

My wife choose Lian Li. :) She also wanted lights and a side window. Of course in typical woman-fashion, she got tired of the blue lights after a year and had me change them out for purple.

Sorry about my prejudiced initial reaction. Serious female gamers (shoot 'em up games) are rare and I just don't think the NH is all that either.

I actually like the look of the Nine Hundred. It's got a distinct gamer look to it, unlike most of the Lian Li and Silverstone offerings. I recall it was kind of big-looking though, last time I saw a demo system at MicroCenter (mind you, I haven't seen the Cosmos or Armor/Xaser in person for comparison, so for all I know, the 900 could be fairly small for a mid tower).

Nooo! There's a red one too. I have my eyes set on that baby actually, to go with my red Razer Diamondback and red backlit Eclipse II.

Anyways, your wife has good taste in SFFs ;). Mountings for five 120mm fans if I recall (only 2 or 3 included?), painted interior, and I'm pretty sure they got rid of that obnoxious support bracket that many (me and gorobei included) have cut away to allow for a bigger HSF. Now I just need a good excuse to get it...

The TF2 clan I'm in (eGO) actually has quite a few gals in it. Also, a lot of games don't see much mic chatter, so you probably wouldn't know it even if gals were playing. I hardly ever heard people using their mics in BF2, even in squads.

I really should stop slacking and get some stuff done!

Lizardth has about 18 boxes of Guild Wars (3 prophicies, 4 factions, 5 nightfall, and 4 EOTN), her Guild Wars Razor Mouse. I'm sure more stuff will be coming. I seen a t-shirt I want. hehe

My wife pwns me in Guild Wars. :D And she isn't too bad in UT, we are working on that.
