I bet, I've driven through Chapel Hill before. About 5 years ago. Looked pretty nice. For whatever reason South Central LA was getting over crowded so it expanded into Phoenix, AZ. It's a shame. I remember in the mid-late 70s and the roads were about as busy at rush hour then as they are at 2-3am on a weekday now.

It's all about what one needs for a computer case. For my main rig, I wanted it really quiet, so I got a Solo. For my gaming rig, I wanted it portable, so I got an X-Qpack2. Both only have 2 HDDs.

You should love my chiller once it's done. Right now it's specing out at 20"x16"x 18" without a computer on it.
That depends on your definition of a good WC rig. Dual DDCs or an RD30 with a pa120.3 will never fit in a small mid-tower, let alone a SFF.

No kidding. That enlight server case I mentioned earlier was so heavy I could barely even pick it up (mostly that was from the 10 SCSI drives and the case itself). I don't know what I would have done if it hadn't have come with caster wheels on it.

You know I really think hard drives are capable of sidestepping the laws of physics when it comes to weight. I mean 10 hard drives should way what 10 pounds? Yet when you put 10 hard drives in a case it's got to be 50 pounds heavier. Kind of like the cameras in the broadcast studios...

Actually old SCSI drives were quite heavy. The ones I used weren't the older 5.25" full height (almost as tall as they were wide) drives that weighed more then a cinderblock back in the day. If I recall correctly, there were even some micropolis SCSI drives that were 3.5" half-height (modern drive height times 1.5) that weighed almost ten pounds each. The drives I used in that setup (which was around four or five years ago and they were older drives, to put things in perspective) were around 5 pounds each.

No I'm talking common 3.5" drives. We have a charting system with an ancient Micropolis ESDI 5.25" FULL HEIGHT drive (one is 77MB the other 370MB and yes M not G!) from 1993. Those are BEASTS. I have one that I want to take apart for the magnets. :Q
In the case of my Stacker 830 it's very front heavy due to the hard drive arrangement and it feels much heavier than 10 drives would suggest!
Steel Addonics and SuperMicro cases with redundant power supplies are quite heavy when empty. A 24 drive 4U would definitely play the test on the bearings on the roll out rack rails for sure. :Q

Yes, I used to own a 10MB 5.25" full height SCSI drive, what a brick. Though my favorite drive ever will always be the ST225 20MB MFM drive, it whistled as it worked or maybe my fav drive was my old quantum ProDrive LPS 52MB IDE. I used that thing as a DOS drive all the way through until 1999.
Yeah, the enlight case I showed and talked about had a triple redundant 600W supply, IIRC.

I had an Everex Step 20 (386-20) with a 40MB Seagate MFM drive that sounded like it was grinding coffee beans. 1MB DOS 3.3 w/Win 3.1. :Q
The Seagate RLL drives had an actuator that reminded me of a slinky getting bounced around in a bathtub. (don't ask!)

They were older used drives (seagate barracuda 19GB 7200RPM). I was experimenting with high end hardware RAID. It was disappointing because I had to use two seperate SCSI channels to get all ten drives, and my PM2865U3 (the card that ADAPTEC inhereted with a company buyout and renamed the 3200s) just wasn't up to the task of XORing a 10 disc raid50 array, even with 128MB cache on the card (two 64MB PC66 SODIMMs).
