My girlfriend would be like "ugh I don't care just make sure it doesn't have any lights on it, pick something no lights!" I have to wake up and uncover my pc's and monitors cause she throws my dirty cloths over them because the LEDs bother her. I DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY FANS THAT LIGHT UP OR ANYTHING! Just the LEDs from the mobo, or the power LED bothers her so I have to put everything back in my hamper everytime she's over lol.

You should mod a switch inline so that you can turn off the LEDs when she is over. :D

LOL.

Anyhow on the topic, i built freya last night for my bestfriend. Its aircooled, and the friend is a girl. A Complete excessive gaming machine i had in design for HTPC. But seeing how it was just sitting there, didnt want to start it until persephone was completed, i loaned her all the parts.

Its basically the evil Nvidia SLI counter to my main rig.

I have to agree with my original statement, girls dont like big boxes, Even when its expensive. I bought all the parts to her house yesterday, and started working on it. She took 1 look at the case and gave me that evil WTF eye. SilverStone TJ-07BW

Well soon after she saw why the box needed to be big, she understood.

Sorry, you just cant fit a 8800GT x 2 + 780i + PPCP 1kw SR PSU inside a middle or SSF. It JUST WONT FIT. :T

She wanted my Shugo SG03, but i told her i would have to litterally bend the rules of physics to fit all that stuff inside.

I actually have the same issue with any sort of gratuitous lighting. It's distracting to have things flashing and glowing off to your side. To that end, I removed every single LED from the front panel of my case . There's still that one remaining pesky LED on my optical drive, but I'm not too inclined to disassemble it just to remove the LED.

Well I could have told you that. I think most people would prefer a case that they don't need to hire temp help in order to move :p. Anyways, my case search drags on. I'm weighing just getting a secondary mid tower instead of completely replacing my SFF. On the short list so far:

Antec Three Hundred
Antec Nine Hundred
Silverstone Kublai KL02B-W - Looks to be somewhere between the Nine Hundred and the Three Hundred in size, and has a similar style to the 900, as far as the window, mesh, and front intake fan.
CM 534 + window kit
CM 590 (not the 690 with the "stand" at the bottom) - too bad there aren't aftermarket windows available...

Some of the other decent cases I just basically can't stand to look at, especially the Antecs with the flat fronts that're supposed to look "stylish" and "classy", but make them look like mini-fridges instead. On a side note - why is there a Twelve Hundred, a Nine Hundred, and a Three Hundred...but no Six Hundred ?

Amber, that's the thing you can't really even see the power LED my monitor is in the way, you can kind of see the HDD LED when it's flashing but hardly ever happens when I'm not on it, the ones she complains about are the ones on the actual motherboard that I can't help, you know the ones that light up to say "5v ok 12v ok" those? ya those. On my SG-03 though she can see the power LED which is white, not blue and that one she hates also. But ya I guess I could remove them =(

Also, Amberclad if you're looking at the Antec 900, that's a pretty heavy case, used to have one. It's heavier than my TJ-09, yes it's aluminum but it's quite a bit bigger too. That KL02B looks like a bigger version of the SG-03! I like it, I might have to get one so I can have 3 silverstone cases!

Dremel set $40 + window kit $10?
vs
Prefabbed aftermarket window panel $15-$20

I'd need a pretty good reason to get the dremel set other than just using it once to cut out a window :p.

How about using it many times to cut out windows and restrictive fan grills and holes for cable management and drilling into hard drive cages to flip your hard drives backwards to hide the cables so people can't find your hard drives and scaring cats.

Ugh...no comment on that last part. Point taken with those stupid punch-out hole fan grills though. I'll consider it, but I still need to make up my mind as far as which case to get. Maybe I'm just being way too picky ...

LOL....

I just assumed that you or someone you knew had a dremel.

Cutoff wheels is less then 4 dollars.

Acrylic sheet, unless you want colored lexan, or lexan ~ 8-10 dollars.

Masking tape 3 dollars.

double sided Tape 2 dollars.

Edge gaurd, 1.30 / ft 2 feet. 2.60

2 hours later, side pannel with window.

Man I'd file down or sand down the edges after the dremel cut anyways, my buddy has a NASTY scar just from putting edge guards on one of the rubber ones? fell off sliced his hand pretty good when he was opening his case up. Also, I just can't justify personally doing that to my case. But then again I spent a LOT of money on mine. Maybe if I wanted to modify a cheaper case heh, but paying over 300 for mine when I got it no f'in way! rofl.

A bit off topic but I think I've pulled an all nighter on this server before, 24/7 Dustbowl that's strict on language?

oh i always deburr my edges.

I get the dremel and sand that down with a tungsten bit.

Ive gotten some really bad cuts by leaving the edges exposed. But i still put edge guards. Unless im getting something professionally lazer cut, i hate exposed edges.

We do have a 24/7 Dustbowl, along with five other 24/7 servers and one sponsor-provided server. And yes, clean and punk-free gaming is pretty much what the clan is about ;), so it might seem "strict" to some, as far as rule enforcement. Which come to think of it, is probably why it attracts a decent number of gals. Anyways, the TF2 division homepage is here - the servers list is on the left side.

Three words: I hate dremels.

On a seperate but related note, I am still looking for a suitable sheet steel nibbler, bi-metal hole saw set, and heavy duty left handed aviation snips.

You have definitely piqued my attention. Bookmarked, and when I feel like trying online gaming again, I may pop in.

I didn't find that last part out intentionally. Was just using my dremel and realized all the cats had disappeared. Later on I went back to use it and as soon as I picked it up they remembered it and scattered to any corner/hole they could find.

Heh, one of the reviews I saw did describe it as an overgrown SG03. It fixes some of the nit-picks I had with the SG03, like the stupid trapezoidal-shaped window. Also, the PSU mount which was turned 90 degrees and mounted directly over the CPU area.

Oh I love my SG-03. It's such a nice little case, really well built and tbh I'm not OC'd much on it just a bump from 200 fsb to 266 fsb on my e2140(mainly because the mobo doesn't want to accept anything more) it runs great no heat issues. I like it a lot personally :p REALLY REALLY light too.

any chance that 2140 is a G0? and not a M0? or a funky L2?
