2. Get yourself a good lawyer.

3. That isn't going to help your BI very much.

I was thinking #3 immediately when I saw the title & Mill's name. This could seriously hurt your chances of getting hired at a department, especially if they're hiring a few out of a large pool. Perhaps you should limit the drinking if you plan on being an LEO. I'm not saying officers don't drink, but it's different when you're first starting out.

3 isn't that much of an issue to me honestly. If I'm doing what I a supposed to be doing(which is calling the police when attacked) and they don't want to take my report, then there is not much I can do. Obviously something went wrong, and I am not trying to make this one-sided. I was of age, wasn't given a sobriety test(I had about 2 drinks), and tried to do what was right. It backfired on me, but that doesn't mean I'm going to hold a vendetta or anything. Just going to get a lawyer and go through the process.

Alright, lets hear the whole story of the night....
Cliff Notes, because I'm not much in the mood for good chat right now(no offense). Crazy guy at bar thinks everyone but him is in the CIA. He sets my arm on fire(not sure if accidental or not). I try to call the cops on him with my cell phone. Bartender doesn't want the cops there so he grabs my cell phone and breaks it, and then has his goons slam me onto the concrete outside and attempt to kill me or something of that nature. I drove to the nearest gas station and called the police, but the bar owner is friendly with those officers, so they investigated me instead. When they said they were refusing to take a report of what happened to me(because they weren't there or didn't care or whatever) I said that was fvcked up so I was summarily arrested for disorderly conduct and public intox. Code of Alabama, Disorderly conduct: (3) In a public place uses abusive or obscene language or makes an obscene gesture;
1. Take stapler.

2. Burn down building

That's fscking BS. :|

Agreed.

Okay, after I finishing stripping the Tempo for parts, I'm packing it to the gills with fertilizer and gasoline, and taking a short road trip.

I can see what you're saying. If they didn't investigate the incident at the bar, then there is definitely a problem. Were they young or old officers? From what I'm hearing I'd guess that they're older guys and friends with the bar owner. If that's the case, they should have an investigation put on them. There's no place for guys like that in law enforcement.

Sweet. If I see a glow in the sky to the west tonight, I'll know who to PM. :D

Edit- Before you do that, I'm going to recruit about 50 local Leather Daddies from Midtown to come hang out at this bar with me one night by way of legal revenge. Their business would drop off pretty quick after word got out that the Village People are going there now. :D

I'm sure they just a couple of good ol' boys looking out for each other, but that crap doesn't fly anymore. After hearing your story I'm very pissed off about this. I hope you can get some kind of justice out of this. Are there any burns on your arm? You have the pieces of your cell phone? You're gonna need some kind of proof but what it's going to come down to is your word against their's.

I have my shirt with the sleeve burned partially off. I actually know a member of their IA because I had classes with him, and we always talked and hung out during any group thing in class. I don't think I want to involve IA though. I'm trying to make this the smallest problem for me as possible. My cellphone is in my car(hopefully), but it is broken. Also have my Palm in there. As far as a lawyer I'm awaiting mine to call me back so I can get a criminal referral. The thing that got me was that they impounded my car. Here's a quote: Ohh... this rich boy drives an Audi he thinks he is special. That what was said to me numerous times and not once did I say anything back as a retort. I was actually suprised by how calm I was during the whole thing. Once under arrest they tried to question me(didn't mirandize me, but they don't really have to), but I told them I wanted to talk to an attorney first. Didn't say it in any kind of inflammatory matter, but it made them very mad and then they wanted to charge me with DUI, and we went into the room for the Breathalyzer, but then he decided not to give me one. I asked him to give it to me and he wouldn't.

Well there were some older ones and the youngest was about early to mid 30's. I don't know if they are buddies with the bar owners, but it certainly appeared that way. They might just have a nice working relationship, so they were obviously going to go after me instead. It happens... life isn't fair.

They can secure you out of your home for the investigation and can enter the immediate area where you were to look for weapons. So that leaves you with "illegally threatening" to arrest you for refusing to show your drivers license. They can threaten to arrest you for anything, but that doesn't mean it is illegal. Cops get to play tricks too as long as they don't violate any ethical or legal concern. Care to show me the law that says threatening to arrest you is illegal?

I guess you might not be such a big fan of cops being scum any more?

I've never been a fan of anyone being scum, but I will defend someone/something if it appears there is more to the story. I guess I can of course expect the same from you on this board, because I did it all to you. I'm sure that's the reason badruth and justint aren't giving me a free pass.

Is this a department you've considered working for? If it is, these guys would probably make it hard for you to get on the force. On the other hand if you pursue it and they get fired, the members of the panel who knew them might not think of you as a team player (hiding behind the blue curtain themselves). I hate to say it, but you're pretty much damned if you do and damned if you don't (for this department anyway).

Hopefully not too much will be missing from my car, but my wallet is already missing a credit that I had to cancel.

Do they have a dictionary of profanity for legal purposes?

Is profanity context dependent too?

Sort of considered working there. It's a high crime department with low pay, but like I said high crime... on the job training and experience real quick. It's not a stellar department there, and I think the average person usually stays there for about 2 years. I was actually turned off to the department because they were the target of an FBI investigation. I decided I didn't want to work for a department that had their own mayor call ask the FBI to investigate. I guess I was right. It has high turnover because it is in a bad area, low pay, and typically deals with the worst people in that area of the county. I'm not even sure why they had jurisdiction where I was. They must have some type of weird lasso annexation around there, because it is incorporated and should have been the Sheriff's Department.

It doesn't sound like a very reputable department. I suggest you look elsewhere. That way when you fill out your background for another department you can make note of how it went down. I'm sure another PD/SO would be more accepting of the situation, especially if they know about the FBI probe.

If I borrow my either my grandfather's or my uncle's truck, I'll have all the cover I need to get by the good ole boys. Besides, you are a Yankee yourself.
