"Wth is going on" basically sums it up...

Where is all this stuff downloading to? Where is my computer? Hmm... How do I install stuff?
I'm sort of winging that part not really sure what's happening. But...this is driving me crazy:

How do I eject the disc from my usb dvd drive? Don't tell me I need to go into the DVD player software and hit eject. Are there disk letters on this thing? Can someone let who is familiar with macs enlighten me? Thanks in advance. ugh... <-- feels dumb

Apple's OS has always been vastly different than that of Windows. It's not an illogical design really, just a vastly different one. If you've been raised on Macs it doesn't seem that odd.

Anyway, say what you will about Apple's design choices when it comes to software, but it's still fairly impressive that they can design a functioning OS that only requires one mouse button to work. (I still use a two-button mouse whenever I'm on a mac, but still)

Drag what into the trash? There is nothing on the desktop that says "USB DVD Drive" there are no drive letters either....

Drag the MacBook into the trash. Then set it on fire. Good luck finding the matches with one mouse button.

Shake it.

The OS was designed very closely to how the Wii ended up in being able to detect motion. Shake it on its side and the disc will eject and if you want to find the "My computer" equivalent then just spin in circles while holding it in your lap.

That pretty well sums it up for me as well. I feel like a retard sitting in the corner when I sit down to a Mac.

Last time I used a Mac was years before Windows came out. I had no problems figuring things out then, but now I probably would.

I've been cross platform for more than a decade - operationally they're really not that different these days. Unless you want to fiddle with anything that's not in the system prefs on OSX, that is... :p

Geez, just press the eject key at the top right of the keyboard...

And yes, hit the eject button on the keyboard.

Or double click Macintosh HD, set to column view and hit the eject button next to the disk icon.

Or drag the icon of the disk to the trash can.

I tried using a mac once in college, since we used them to do the layout on our lit magazine... after not being able to eject my floppy after 10 minutes of trying, I gave up and have never looked back.
