does not mean the guy was right who hit you. It just means you were setting yourself up, and will continue to do so till you get rid of that terrible habit.

Fvck yourself you goddam know nothing moron. On a motorcycle, you move to the outside of the turn, hit the inside corner, and exit on the outside of the turn. A motorcycle has the right to use every inch of the lane. If you did this to me, I'd follow you to wherever you were going and beat the fvck out of you, and then beat the fvck out of your car.

Bullsh!t. In most places it's illegal to pass on the right.

Whoa! look out for the e-penos!

Go back and read. Where did I say it was OK or right to pass anyone, eh?
You said it yourself in the post above.

Oh, and watch out for arsehole drivers.
The OP did not do that, and damn near got picked off. He then came in here and bitched about it.

This turn is Significantly>90 degrees according to the diagram. YOU execute that turn from the far right edge of the lane in any motorized vehicle.

You do what you can. Taking it all the way to the left lane stripe is asking for it, and guess what? The moron behind him delivered. Look at the quote from the motorcycle driving guide above. Don't leave enough room on the right for someone to squeeze in. It does not matter who's wrong or who's right, only who's alive.

If you were here right now, I'd know you senseless with my e-penis, bitch.

You said that moving left to turn right is an "asshat move". That couldn't be further from the truth dipsh!t.

Getting nearly hit by arsehole drivers when you're riding in a safe manner IS something to bitch about.

Judging from your nonresponse, I assume you didn't have your blinker on. And judging from your nonresponse, I'm assuming you know that this means you were in the wrong.

No blinker = nobody knows what the hell you're doing. And nobody will get hit with manslaughter if you die, it's your own fault you ride something with such weak protection. You take the risks, not me.

Gee, that's useful information. The one who isn't killed wins. Well no kidding.

Fact is, that driver behind the OP was in the wrong.

who cares if he signalled? Obviously he should, and probably did. But this guy was going to pass him on the right side of a lane regardless? geez

If another car (or bike, whatever) signals to left and moves to the extreme left of the lane (as in wanting to turn left), you are allowed to pass on the right side

Illegal or not, IMHO it's safer for all parties involved...based on my experience biking in Seattle, anyway.

I HATE assholes who ride on the sidewalk, especially on college campuses.

<--- has almost been hit numerous times by asshats bicycling on pedestrian walkways

Do what my buddy does. Carry some small pebble or marble and toss one up in the air so that it hits their dumbass. Its not like they can keep up with a motorcycle.

I think skyking is the only one with common sense here... Yes, the OP has a right to be ticked at the driver, but chances are, it would happen again with another person in that position. Yes, technically the whole lane is yours, but unless someone actually knows what's involved with riding, they probably will misinterpet you when you move to the left. Chances are, the driver didn't see your turn signal. Even using an arm signal could be misread as you waving him by. Regardless of who's right, I know I'd be scared stiff to swing that wide with someone close behind me. I'd far rather have the driver honking at me because I slowed down so much for the turn.

I was riding down two-way, one-lane road when I needed to make a right turn. The turn is very sharp so even when I'm driving my car I have to slow down to 10-15mph, so on the bike I gotta go even slower.

So I'm preparing to make the turn, I slowed down to around 10mph and pulled to the left-most side of the lane to give myself some room. Meanwhile there's a blue civic behind me, almost on my tail. So as I'm pulling towards the left side of the lane I notice that he's very close, almost as if he's trying to pass me on the right on a one-lane street!

I was slow to react and started the turn when I realize that he in fact WAS trying to pass me on the right! As many of you know it's very hard to brake a bike when you're turning so there was very little I could do. The bastard barely avoided hitting me and then he has the nerve to hit his horn, as if I did something wrong. I'll admit I've never felt like hurting somebody more in my life.

Here's a diagram to make things easier: diagram

Um why on earth would you have to go slower on a bike than on your car.. the bike handles 200% better than the average car if you know how to ride.....

time for some riding classes man..
MSF Tracksmart...etc etc etc..
mid corner braking is also very possible just feather the rear... we use the rear in racing to tighten our corners... learn to weight your pegs and make corners at speed..
the bike will do more than you think it will.

Man, you people have never ridden a motorcycle. To make that turn, you start from the left most portion of the lane! That's how you turn on a motorcycle. If he swerved left then right, there would be no time for the car to pass him. If he positioned himself in the left portion of the lane and had his blinker on, he was doing nothing wrong. That turn is practically a U-turn. Who makes a U-turn from the nearest portion of the lane?

OP, don't worry about it, you did nothing wrong. Asshats in cars can always find a way to f&ck you over on a bike, despite your best efforts.

The problem is you were on a motorcycle.

Car >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bike

Size matters, get out of the way. That doesn't justify him, but it's understandable

Motorcycle.

:) I was going to flame you if you were riding a bicycle :)

those idiots who ride bicycles on the road with cars DO deserve to get hit!!! especially when there IS a sidewalk!!!

IIRC, riding a bicycle on the sidewalk is illegal. you're supposed to ride a bicycle on the shoulder of the road

edit: this has already been covered...

Check the thread again, I said I had my blinker on.

I'd have caught him.

I almost caught a lady on my road bike yesterday. She passed me with about 6 inches clearance, when there was a full oversized lane for US ... she had about 5 feet on the other side. I'd have had her if it wasn't so damn hilly.

A note to anyone who says you should have chased him down:

It's not a good idea to get into a road rage incident when you're on a bike, and the asshole is in a car. You're at a DISTINCT disadvantage. Kinda like trying to fist fight an elephant. I don't care how big and strong you are, or how many black belts you have, you and your bike are no match for a car or worse yet, a truck.

Just don't do it. Get away as fast as you can and stay away.

Regardless of how wrong the driver of the car is, next time signal. It may save your life.
