Probably wouldn't have been the best idea to attack this guy when he now knows where you live. I think you did the right thing.

Well, when considering all that could have gone wrong, doing nothing is the safest of all possible solutions. At the same time though, the guy was holding a bike. You absolutely could have rendered him helpless before he could even free his hands to fight or draw a weapon.

I would have fought him. Whether this is the best choice or not is a different story though.

I won't bash you for not acting. You're alive and well and this is the outcome you want from any situation.

Most of these posters are careless and would be in jail along with the bike thief until the morning. Possestion is 9/10th of the law on undocumented personal property like a bike. Add to that fact, I have no doubt based on your passive position, this guy would have stomped you even if he were jockey sized. Perhaps you did the right thing... up to a point. At a minimum you should have grabed a phone and called 9-11 and followed w/ vechile until PD arrived. Another alternative would be use Texas' liberal guns laws and empty a clip in him like all those repo men who meet thier demise in Texas.:p

Yeah I agree, give this guy a break.
You guys don't know mexicans, 140lb 5'5 sounds like a pretty buff guy. Short buff mexicans are hardcore boxers and can prolly kick anyone's ass, that's why he didn't just drop the bike and run for his life.

Based on how he acted, I think he had a weapon, or he was definately confident he would have been able to defend himself off.
A bicycle isn't worth life or death.

I don't understand what you argued about for 5 minutes. That's a lot of time in a situation like that.

And if you can afford a bike and computer, you can afford a gun.

Ok, so I was getting back from another house down the street at 11.55pm last night with my laundary clothes and saw one guy coming out of house where I live (It is kind of house with four apartments and garage) with a bike on his shoulders. And I know that this guy is not from one of those 4 apts.

I asked him what is he doing...he replies "I am taking my bike" And I was shocked and aggrevated, wtf, he was taking my bike. I argued with him for like 5 minutes. But could not attack him (because of clothes in hand).

Finally he just walked with my bike,:Q I called cops but they arrived like 30 :frown: mins after call and by the time he was already gone and lost.

He was like 5'5", 140-150 lbs and I am 6'0" 200 lbs and I think I should have attacked him

You stupid stupid pussy. I simply cannot believe you let a guy walk away with your bike. You are officially a complete idiot!

This has to be a parody thread, right?

'course if you're that put off by having to pay to wash your clothes again, then by all means, buy a new bike while wearing your clean clothes.

Man that is so right for this thread.

OP you should have called the cops earlier if you had a cell phone. Or at least called out for some people to come out. I would think then that they'd help you get your dam bike back off this guy.

Don't even think about fighting a guy next time. If you don't do it you will just get trounced upon. Maybe think about taking up a self defense call? Kick boxing?

Lets hope the bike wasn't pricey!

Because a 5'5" person doesn't very easily fit on a 6' person's bike.

I would have taken my bike back. In such a situation, I know I would have been so enraged, I would not have backed down from a physical fight if that's what it came down to. Once it became physical, I would have f*cked him up. (I?m 5?10? 190 lbs., and pretty strong. Some people have looked at me and assumed I work out, even though I don?t.)

Oh, yeah, I guess I'd be redoing my laundry later, too.

EDIT: I'm sorry you feel so "mercilessly f*ucked" over this thread, but that's what I would have done. And I consider myself to be a fairly pacifist person.

Next time, try this:

1.) Put down the clothes.
2.) Put your hand over your balls
3.) Check to see if you have a pair
a.) If so, proceed to beat the sh!t out of the guy
b.) If not (which, apparently is the case for you), offer to get some Vaseline and bend over, because you have already done everything else for him, might as well make that easy, too

Thank god you werent carrying a weapon, you'd probably have handed it to him in case he wanted it.

just wondering, what did the police say when they showed up and you told them the story? What was the reaction?

Probably rolling around on the sidewwalk, laughing their last couple dozen of Krispy Kreme donuts off.
