Sleeping with your spouse is way overrated.

LOL... I'd have to agree.

We now have a king size bed, and seperate blankets, so the problems are less than they once were.

But I hear ya. :)

Don't get me wrong - I love my wife dearly and enjoy her close physical proximity, just so long as I'm not trying to reach a blissful state of unconsciousness. And I'm not trying to pretend that every accusation I'm about to make doesn't apply to me as well. I think my problem is that at age 35, I've finally gotten over the instant thrill of being in a large bed with my scantily-clad wife at those times when I know the only goal is not sex but instead to pass out into oblivion.

First there is the snoring. Its a girly, soft snore that doesn't happen all that often, but it is still there occassionally. Then there is the waking up with a pointy elbow firmly lodged in either my throat or one of my eye sockets. Don't get me started on the never-ending struggle that is blanket-hogging. Also, somehow my "half" of the bed ends up being the 1/7th portion that is on the very edge of the mattress. When she's restless, she flops around like a fish out of water. Each and every one of the many times she gets up to go to the restroom each night, I bolt straight up, convinced in my groggy half-awakedness that Charles Manson has come to visit. And her body temperature is something like 178 degrees, so If I'm within five feet of her I'm baking in my own juices.

All I want is cool, peaceful, quiet snooze time. Is that so wrong???

California King FTW!
dont have any of these problems when your girl is sleeping on the other side of a matress so big its got its own zipcode...

and man your wife snores... thats kinda weird.... none of my SOs have ever snored LOL..

All women snore, they just dont start until they get older <---- my theory

I bet your mom snores

I woudlnt know me and my mom havent talked since I was 5...

and val doesnt snore and shes older than me at 34 =P

My fiancee and I actually have no problems at all. But this is for many reasons:

1) We both fall asleep easily.
2) Both of us sleep heavily and are not easily awaken.
3) Neither of us snore
4) Neither of us move around all that much while sleeping
5) She is cold natured and wraps herself in the covers. I am hot natured and often sleep half under the covers and half out of the covers.

I've had my share of problems with girlfriends in the past (light sleepers, lots of movement, cover hogs, etc.), but I'm more than compatible with my fiancee.

Does your wife do any sleeptalking or sleepwalking. My wife does. I've found her standing in the middle of the bed, standing over by the ironing board trying to get a string off around a child's neck, over by the bedroom door on her tiptoes trying to grab at something above the door. It's wierd and funny at the same time.

Separate blankets are definitely a necessity if either party is at all prone to blanket thievery.

Glad I don't have those problems; after 11 years of marriage, I still enjoy sleeping with my wife.

Of course, she may not enjoy it. I don't know and for the sake of my selfish peace of mind, I don't think I'll ask her. :D

My complaint in sleeping with the SO is in her insecurity she constantly wants to be cuddled. My arm around her pretty much at all times. Of course this usually leads to a sore back from me sleeping all night on my back or side. I prefer to sleep on my stomach but as soon as I do that I start getting this whiney pushing trying to get me to turn back over.

They just get up out of their beds and hop into yours. I'm a heavy sleeper so I never even notice. Our older kid did it from about 3-5 before we got her completely broken of it... our younger one just turned 3 and started doing it.

Ugh! My wife snores like a drunken sailor too. If I can fall asleep before she does I'm usually good to go as I'm a heavy sleeer. If not, she hits the couch.

She's going for a sleep study next month since none of the OTC remedies help her.

Lol, pretty similar to my own situation. The cold-natured/hot-natured thing is pretty damn crucial. Even when she sleeps in my arms, I'm usually outside the blanket and she's in.

One night iRONic I stuck one of those band-aid looking devices on her nose to stop her snoring, she woke up, yanked it off and then proceded to pummel me into oblivian.

Been married for 14 years and sleeping with the same woman for 16 years now in a queen sized bed. I still enjoy sleeping next to her. Sure there are times when it's, shall we say, less than enjoyable but the good times more than make up for that.

<--Had a nice romp with the wife last night before we went to sleep. Slept like a baby. ;)

Heh heh...

After my wife's failed attempts with the 'Breathe Right' strips I suggested duct tape. All over her face. She popped a frog on my arm that hurt for a day!

She snores cutely, so i can tease her about it (and it doesn't bother me). However the doona hogging is annoying, as is the elbows, and the insane body temp ;)

I sleep very soundly tho, and talk in my sleep, and i kick (just one leg, randomly) when i'm drunk, so i get my own back i think ;)

Hey Aussie, what the crap is a "doona"???

I was just about to suggest that. After 9 years of marriage I know that if I really want to get a good night's sleep I just need to sex one of us into a coma ;)

P.S. I only have the energy/motivation to do this about 2x/mo, so I have to pick my spots. I can relate to OP the other 28 days. The best part is that I always have breakfast waiting for me in the morning the next day, so I can get an extra 15 mins of sleep in the morn.

I'm just glad we bought that king-sized bed a couple of years ago. The queen-size was getting cramped with just the one kid. I'd be sleeping in the guest bedroom right now if we still had that.

Send those kids to their own bed. That's just not right.
