Just be careful at Exit 19 on I-459 - that merge onto 280 during rush hour is a nightmare.

The only dumb fcktards are those that refuse to Rage against the system of rules and regulation? Fck em all, go in to the wrong lanes and screw everyone else? Cut off 10,000 cars if you have to, if the late merge results in saving you 30 minutes of gridlock then do it, just like I do.. I have no patience for the other fcktards, so I decided to live by an old saying when it comes to traffic- ?If you can?t beat them, join them!!!?

Is that north on 459, the part where I go up to the end and then cut in to the merging lane at the last minute? :) Then of course you've got the people who go left at the lights on the 280 and all sit in the right of those two turning lanes, so I just get in on the left and make a killing at the lights!

They piss me off too. I saw a shoving match once and A and B, both at about 35 mph, almost had a crash. One of them was driving on the hard shoulder so as not to give up his spot, even though he was in the wrong. I wouldn't let A in either, but if it was between that an an accident I would probably just give up. I came close to that a couple of years ago in my sentra. An 18 wheeler was doing this exact trick against me at crawling speeds. I refused to give in even though he was pushing me nearly against the guard rail. I was honking the entire time. It was unreal that this prick just kept pushing me in. Finally HE gave up (cock sucker!) and I then drove really slowly while giving him the finger. He actually stopped his truck and walked up to me but I just kept edging along and he got back in. Then to spite him I let another 18 wheeler in. At those speeds it was safe enough though :)

You were the prick in this situation, not him. :|

For example... this morning... my commute was 2 hours.... I left my house at 7:30AM and arrived shortly after 9:30AM.

According to google... this commute should only be 30 minutes as it's a 22 mile drive.

This is the nature of this particular commute. And it's idiots like I described that add countless minute to the commute. On a moving highway weaving and moving is one thing. In this mind-numbing traffic... it's something completely different.

Two hours to travel 22 miles is a fantastic commute. Birmingham can only compare on truly the worst of days with accidents and lots of onlooker's delay.

 you're kidding me. How long is your commute? 1.5 hours is my traffic tolerance... after that I turn into an angry angry person.

Explain how I was a prick for not allowing an 18 wheeler to crush me into a guard rail. Go.

I guess I chose the wrong words. two hours is just freaking nasty!

Even years after leaving Birmingham, it's sad that I could easily remember a prime example of where Skoorb's driving would enrage Doboji were they both in Birmingham.

You weren't even in a lane according to your post. I fail to comprehend how you could possibly be in the right if you were on the hard shoulder. If you were merely merging, and you had no chance to get in, and he wasn't letting you then I mis-posted. However, if you were trying to pass him in the merge lane, and weren't able to do it and ran out of road (not including hard-shoulder), you then my statement stands.

Yeah see and try to imagine your maneuvers when the maximum attainable speed is 8 mph. It'd be one thing if there was somewhere you could get to that was beyond the traffic. But in my scenario it's simply a matter of getting X number of vehicles through a roadway built for x-1000. If everyone holds themselves together... and spend 15 minutes being patient... the whole group can get across the roadway. But what consistently happens, is some idiot will try to skip around 3-4 cars only to find themselves... not on a shoulder but on a bridge where their lane doesnt faze out, it simply ceases to exist. (Which is exactly what all the signs leading up to that spot very well explain). The asshat then has to force his way into traffic if he's ever going to get anywhere. So typically what happens is he'll stick his nose into traffic.... forcing the car he cut off to step on the breaks quickly. Thus causing the entire line of traffic to stop. So now the angry guy who got cut off is trying to force his way back beyond the original fvcktard. Usually what this means is that for the 45 seconds or so it takes for someone to give way... all the cars for miles behind are all stopping creating a nasty little traffic jam. Imagine this happening OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

I was in the left lane and he was in the right lane. The right lane was ending and he started to merge into mine, and since I didn't want to give in (BTW it's not that I wouldn't have let him in--it's that he simply started to drive into my lane. No signaling, or even so much as taking an otherwise somewhat-open gap. He simply started to drive into my car) that's why I ended up basically being pushed into the little shoulder between the left lane and the guard rail. He saw a small car and figured that I'd be intimidated by his big vehicle, which was his folly and cost him accordingly. I think he realized that a very low speed accident was imminent and that it was not only going to cost him time, but be clearly evident who's fault it was. I was in a $1500 car and wasn't in a big rush that day so I thought let's see how far this prick will take it. He took it quite far considering his entire livelihood rests upon his ability to legally drive that vehicle.

See, it's a case-by-case fine line of "stealing" a position that you don't deserve and merely taking advantage of a good opportunity that others might otherwise take, but can't be bothered to.

It sounds fun :) Actually things like that are why I'd like to be a cop, so that I could constantly penalize people who are naughty on the road. I will tell you one thing I don't tolerate is a traggic jam and people driving _on the shoulder_ and then expecting to get let in. Needless to say, it won't be in front of me.

I retract my statement with apologies ... I needed more details to put forth that comment. I still don't like the way you say you drive though ;) Fortunately, I live in a small town with only highways, and less people than you guys probably see in 10 minutes of driving.

I was practically screaming for a cop this morning... if I had bricks available they would have been thrown... I was furious. And all I could do was sit there hopelessly.

If I was a cop I would beat people and get suspended very quickly.

And you call me a menace

No no... I'm the victim... that gives me the right to inflict pain on other people and get away with it.

I see that thing Skoorb described with the 18 wheeler a lot in areas where the road loses a lane. For some reason the truckers get annoyed at people that merge properly at the merge point rather than stop .5 to 1 mile back and sit like mental patients with their turnsignals on waiting for an opening. If everyone would alternate merge at the merge point the traffic would flow much more smoothly and use that amount of lane space in the most efficient manner.
