the last thing the OP wants is this thread closed, you're just feeding his weird/specific troll thirst by patronizing it. Yes, I'm aware this reply is only contributing to that.

Because no straight actor has ever played a gay man before?

Well, when you do it repeatedly people start to wonder. They start to talk. Whisper.

There's nothing wrong with it, of course, but I can't imagine every actor wanting to play these roles. If you're really straight, it'd invite certain types of fans and women. The liberal types. I know he's famous for Star Trek but I've never seen those either since I'm not the fan. Maybe they're of the same mind.

So you wanted this thread closed, but not before you could get out your shovel to dig yourself a bit deeper, eh?

Please carry on...

Someone told me that they read in a book that in Shakespeare's times all the roles for women were played by men! Oh, the talking that surely happened! The scandal of it all!

I wanted it closed because I felt it was not the appropriate thread for many here to celebrate the wedding of someone we honor and respect so much. I like the guy as an actor and human being but I just thought he was gay. He isn't and I found out via the fact that he got married. None of this is difficult to understand. I'm not asking to have it closed because of any embarrassment or some other dumb nonsense. That's for the insecure. I think there should be a proper thread since he's universally liked and appears to be a happy fellow.

I thought he was gay:confused: Now I'm reading he's been married before? I remember seeing him do an SNL skit over a decade ago where he kissed a man.

Are you familiar with Occam's Razor? It states that if multiple possible answers exist, the simplest is usually correct. So what's the simplest explanation for this seeming disconnect? Clearly, Patrick Stewart's marriages are shams designed to throw the public off the gay scent. Straight men don't feel obligated to kiss men just because a camera happens to be trained on them. And saying "it's in the script" is such an obvious cop-out; how do we know Patrick Stewart doesn't write those scripts himself to allow himself the opportunity to express the gay feelings that he can't express elsewhere for fear of public shaming? Obviously that's why he's never once been seen doing a single gay act outside of "acting roles." Occam's Razor; dude likes dudes.

When one starts threads about homophobic, racist, sexist and bigoted topics repeatedly, people start to wonder. They start to talk. Hell, they even openly post about it.

:hmm:

You should feel some shame. That would be appropriate.

Have you ever actually listened to an actor discuss their craft? The harder something is to play, the more challenged and engaged most of them are. They may not enjoy the physical aspects of a scene, but here's a flash: the actors in the heterosexual scenes don't much enjoy them either, if what I've read is any guide.

One can never tell with the British...

I felt the original post by the OP along with the topic title needed to be properly quoted for the posterior of it all. In case it came up MIA.

Make it so, number one.

Not only that, but I keep reading that a lot of the male on male porno actors sware (lol) they are straight with girlfriends and wife's even. Talk about a big let down.

George Takei is gay and I've never seen him kiss a man on screen. I don't think I've ever seen Neil Patrick Harris kiss a man on screen either.

What was your point again?

I've never heard anyone suggest that Patrick Stewart was gay... until today.

My point has been stated in this thread repeatedly. If you're too stupid to understand then see it as homework and re-read.

I think we all know the point of this thread, it's you coming out of the closet to us. Now Dari, when did you first suspect you were gay? Was it all the gay porn or was it your fixation with a gay Captain Picard?

I might help if your point made sense. It doesn't.

Ok. It doesn't to you. There are straight actors that play gay parts. We've debated it. If you're trying to get brownie points with the audience I think that's already been established. I really don't give a fuck either way.
