Since MS is dumping MS Money, where would you go?

Mint doesn't allow you to manually enter items that haven't cleared your bank, right? What does Mint do about banks that charge for automatic updates (like BoA)?

Never saw the need for any of that software unless you're running a business. Is it that hard to live within your means in America these days? Explains the credit crunch and the fucking housing market.

So you think the people using MS Money or Quicken are the ones that are blowing their money on stupid crap because they like seeing the cool graphs keep going down?

If anything, I would think people that do use these programs would be the more responsible type.

Ummmm... MS Money is what I use to live within my means. I set a budget, schedule my bills, and manage how much goes into savings. Actually I'm not even sure what your point is. Care to explain?

BTW, how do you enter stuff into your register on Mint manually? I don't see how it's of any benefit when it only records past transactions that have cleared.

What other products work exactly like MS Money with the automatic updates?

I love MS Money. I am really sad they don't make it anymore. It serves a totally different purpose than Mint. I use both.

I use it to keep track of my finances. Nothing more. It beats paper statements.

How established a company is Mint.com and is their security, in terms of stored account numbers and passwords, as solid as their website claims (supposedly same as bank, in terms of online and bricks and mortar security)?

Uhh...since many people have various accounts spread out across multiple companies, software like mint/money/quicken make it easy to consolidate accounts in one place and do whatever. I would like to think that lots of people using this software are in the black right now, because they actually know how to manage their finances.

I use mint currently and have been for about 3 months. Have always used the portfolio function within my BoA account to track accounts easily so now I just use them in conjunction with one another.

Eh... I gave up on Money awhile ago, and just use the online banking features that my banks provide. Since most of my money is either going into or coming out of my Wachovia checking account anyway, it's the only one that I really need to use all that often.

My wife and I have a total of 2 savings accounts, 3 checking accounts, 5 retirement investment accounts, 2 non-retirement investment accounts, ~8 credit cards, one student loan account, one mortgage loan, and we live well within our means. It just helps to be able to keep track of everything in one place.

I agree that I've never seen the need for this software. All it seems to do is waste time. My check automatically gets deposited into my account and all of my bills automatically get deducted. There's not really anything to track.
