* 150+ creatures and bosses
* Create your own character from a choice of four races and release your inner beast by transforming into a fearsome, flesh rending were-beast

* Two multiplayer modes ? the first allows the player to connect to any party, compose their team and play in co-op or PVP (up to eight players); the second sees the player compose a team at the beginning and play through the entire story together.

ETA looks like 9th March for UK,20th March for US.

Anyone tried the demo? Is it any good? They also released high res texture pack.

I watched the trailer it looks pretty cool, but the demo is French only so i'm kinda hesitant to try it.

looks like guild wars engine, which is good. I remember it running very well while looking better than you would expect considering how un-taxing it was. I could be wrong though.

Silverfall demo available, link.

There is an English playable demo for Silverfall, superseding last November's French sample of the top-down 3D fantasy role-playing game by Monte Cristo and KievGames. This humongous download incorporates the previously optional high-res textures pack, allowing you to play the game up to level 15 in both the nature and techno alignments, and recruit up to two companions.

Bah, this means that I have to learn another fantasy universe. I wish people would just get the TSR license.
I think that may be a little difficult seeing as how TSR doesnt exist anymore.
Perhaps Wizards of the Coast would be a better bet.

UK release date is March 9th ,so nextweek.

Silverfall is rated 'T' for Teen and will be available in North America for the Windows platform on March 20, 2007 for a suggested retail price of $39.95.

Silverfall is GOLD

Silverfall has completed development and is on schedule for its March release.

Looks pretty cool! Maybe I'll check out the demo this weekend.

I don't really understand how everyone complains about there not being any good games out. I barely even have time to try out these demos, I am so busy with other stuff in my life and playing the 2 games I really, really like right now.

I am going to wait and see how this game plays because after what players had run into with NWN2 and Gothic 3 the wise course is be patient and observe.

I am constantly disappointed by 'vast open fantasy universes' with 'complete freedom'.

Oblivion was supposed to offer a huge world that would take weeks to explore fully - turned out you could stand on a hill on one side of the map and see the other side clearly.

You were also supposed to have complete freedom to adventure on your own, but really the new monsters and treasures only appear when you level up, so you're never challenged or threatened or feel like you're having anything like an adventure.

I hope this delivers.

I'm holding off on buying any games until nvidia drivers mature for vista.

Why not just install XP for gaming? You still have a copy right?

They did find a problem with Vista x64 Ultimate version and this game, however from what I read in the forums it has been fixed in the retail version of the game.

While Silverfall follows the classic Diablo model-arrive in a town or other "safe" area, talk to NPCs with indicators hovering over their head, go out into the world and kill things-it has enough little upgrades and refinements to make it an interesting game in its own right. I've seldom played a game where I can be a gun-slinging, dead-raising, ice-flinging, industrial tycoon/goblin adventurer, and for that alone, Silverfall was intriguing. The hours of dungeon crawling and cutting down hordes of monsters, well, that was just a fun little bonus.

dude on a hilltop on *this planet* i can see the sun ... and they tell me it is 93M miles away 😛

😀

Oblivion is *only* 4 miles at it's widest point ... and your highest "hilltop" is but a few hundred feet above 'sea level'

and "nonsense" on your "monsters only appear when you level up" BS
-- it DOES take hundreds of hours to fully explore

and i will wait for the OP to report Silverfall is *bug free*

and then i will wait an extra month or two to hear reports from everyone else. 😉

😀

sorry, Mem :lips:

hoping for a good game!

Ok back on topic, new interview with Jehanne Rousseau producer of Silverfall over at FiringSquad. .

What sets Silverfall apart from other hack-and-slash titles, and indeed, from many other RPGs, is that we?ve abandoned traditional classes in favor of a very open-ended skills system. Players will be able to create the exact character they?d like ? one that suits their play style and needs. So, for example, players could choose to create a powerful mage who is no less dangerous in hand-to-hand combat, or a brooding warrior who surprises his foes with devastating dark magic.

how is that *different* ?

in Gothic3/Oblivion/NWN2/Fable i created a character that suited exactly my style and needs ... generally i DO create cross-class characters [usually "a brooding warrior who surprises his foes with devastating dark magic"] 😛

'on-topic' enough for you?

😀

oh, right, duh

looks snazzy, not that graphics are the most important part of a game

i hope there's a demo
