For NASA's sake it better be something like fossil evidence. However, I don't think they would hold a press conference like this without it being something like fossils.

w00t... they just said they found evidence that the rocks were submerged?

Edit: Now they're introducing everybody from the press conference, so I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Indeed, they were submerged in liquid water.

They don't know whether the rocks were laid by water or what, but they are certain they were altered by liquid water.

Nice.

I am hoping they find elements in states that are usually only brought about by bacterial intervention... I can't think of any off the top of my head though.

Okay....

.... they found water. *Yawn* is this what our $5 ga-zillion dollars are going toward. Seriously, finding water proves what? That there could have been life. Finding water on Mars isn't the biggest thing since landing on the moon, it isn't the biggest thing since I woke up this morning.
