Don't worry about, it's no big deal. Worst case scenario you turn the dog into either a vicious monster or a depressed shell of an animal. If that happens you can just put it to sleep and buy a new puppy.

spanking a dog? wtf. is he a lap dog? try hitting a 100+ lb dog out of anger, we'll see how they take it. Hope you don't like your fingers. the fucking animal adores you b/c you feed it and you hit it for doing something it very well knows was wrong, so clearly the reason it did it was not to piss you off but because something was wrong. and you hit it and it has no idea why. you're an idiot.

my dad used to spank my dog when we first got him. i really advise against it because it'll just teach her the wrong things. try to control your temper - if you take a second to think before you act, you usually won't act (i have a really bad temper as well).

what's done is done, but try to refrain from it in the future

1) Lock your dog and your spouse in your car's trunk.
2) Wait 30 minutes.
3) Open the lid, an see which one is happy to see you.

I hope you do feel like crap!

Now let me tell you why. You just confused the F@#$ out of your dog! I'm not saying that disipline is a bad thing, but in this case you were WRONG to disipline her. I've been showing and training dogs for +15 years and unless you catch them in the act of peeing/pooping in the house they don't associate the the act with the punisment.

Also the fact it was outside the bathroom tells me that she is aware that it is wrong and tried to get your attention to let her out. Now go spank yourself! Or walk the dog before you shower.

Exactly. Too many people treat dogs as like they were human. Confuses the fuck out of the dog as well.

wow, look ma...trolls.

We have domesticated dogs. They belong next to their humans.

Awesome. I'm now a troll since I think dogs belong outside.

This is great!

Alright Mr. Vick, I dont think I agree with you there :)

Many families consider their dogs to be part of their family. I'd never keep a dog outside.

The first thing I learned when I got my dog was to NEVER discipline a dog for most bad behavior. Ignore it and praise them for good behavior when deserved. Dogs don't typically understand the difference between scolding and praise, they just see it as attention. Scaring or hurting them is never the way to go.

You should only spank them if there caught in the act. Unlike humans you can't say "Im spanking you because you pissed on the floor".

For reference, it would be like someone coming into you room, slapping you around a bit and throwing you outside, giving you some food, slapping you around some more, and throwing you in your room.

Thats it, you have no idea wtf you did to get slapped around.

What's the issue, all I see is somebody walking into their house and they got attacked by a large animal that they've never seen before. They defended themselves, problem? It's not like he went down to the pound and started kicked all the animals there.

He was just trying to be flamebait.

You do have your moments but this isn't one of them ... consider the source.

And to the OP, you should feel bad for hitting your dog in this case ... as others here have stated she had no idea why you were punishing her, all she knew is that you hurt her & thats why she didn't want to come back in the house.

Lots of posts saying to spank the dog only when you catch it in the act of doing something undesirable. I have lots of experience with dogs, and I've yet to find an instance where 1) spanking was needed, 2) spanking produced any kind of results that other behavior modification would not.

I can see no reason to spank a dog. If there are problems that are severe enough to require hitting the dog, then most likely the owner needs training.

Hope your dog doesn't have a urinary problem. My cat was peeing a tiny amount in various places of the apartment because she had urinary issues. It never even occurred to me to punish her because I've read enough to know she did it because she was in pain going in the litterbox and thought being somewhere more comfortable might help for some reason. She's better now. Hopefully the landlord won't run around with a black light on every corner of every room when I move out in a week.

How do you get a dog to come to you if they need to pee....or is that just something they pick up. She'll pee outside if i walk her on schedule, but sometimes she needs to go inbetween and I have no idea until I see a puddle in the carpet or step in it.

My dog got a hold of our neighbor's kitten once and I had to beat the living shit of her with my fists to make her let go. I had bruises on my hands from hitting her so hard on the head. The kitten was still alive, but then my lab puppy saw it and took one chomp and killed it.

LOL. Man, where did you come up with that? Thats good material.

And for the OP, at least you admit to it. Some would keep that a secreat because you know....they're innocent animals and we are big mean bastids.

Yeah, hence why I take her out often. But man was I fucking pissed when she constantly ran back and forth between being outside and in the house.

Sometimes dogs are the sweetest things, and other times they just piss the hell out of you. The boston terrier i referred to earlier destroyed my 500GB HDD a week ago by dragging it to the floor :|

I hope you had your porn backed up at least?

No I was not. If the dog was still biting, a knee up would have been effective and then closing the door. To kick the dog it would have more than likely have released.

It was an action out of fear not control and evidence that most don't know crap about animal discipline...the dude if anything created a pet that feared being kicked again and the result of that is a pet that's more likely to attack.

If you have to beat the crap out of a dog it means you have waited far to long to train it. Trying this crap on a large breed would prove the human loses hand to hand vs animal.

No need to hit. If you train your dog a strong NO! followed by a correction...in this case taking them outside and once they go positive reinforcement.

Hitting a dog is not a training method, it's an attack. Professional trainers and esp trainers of guard dogs don't have to beat the animals...you shouldn't have to either.

wrong. having 4 feet and a bigger mouth, along with the penchant to lick your privates any time doesnt make them superior to a human in a fight. my in laws had a large dog that was very aggressive, would growl and snap at them when they tried to take away their stuff he was chewing. they thought the same way you do, and ended up losing a lot of stuff. i went over and took something out of his mouth, he growled once and tried to snip at me. i smacked his nose with my fingertips and told him no before his mouth even got near me. he didnt lunge, he didnt growl or bark at all. he didnt lose his aggressiveness at all for a while, but he sure knew id take his ass out if needed. i was attacked as a teen by 2 dogs, killed them them with my hunting knife i carry while walking in the desert. i was big, but not that big. i dont beat my dogs regularly, but if they do get out of line in huge proportions and i witness it they get punished accordingly. my dogs are very well behaved, they will sit in my doorway and whine until i let them come outside. even if there is a rogue dog in their yard.

Depends on how kinky your spouse is. If they are both unhappy to see you because you interrupted them 30 minutes later, quickly close the trunk and rethink this test. Maybe try a cat and your spouse next time for better results.

And yes, most dogs belong outside unless they are really small dogs and might otherwise get eaten by large birds, cats, snakes or other dogs. Medium and large dogs in the house are just nasty and treat the house like a barn ripping stuff apart, breaking stuff and pissing and crapping all over. Even professionally trained dogs will do this on occasion. Which is why the cops frequently dump trained dogs at the shelters. I know about this, since I adopted a few ex cop dogie malcontents before.

And people who let their dogs stay inside and jump and slobber all over guests and sleep on the furniture and beds are usually just as gross and stinky as the dogs are. Anything that licks its privates non stop then licks you in the mouth to see what you just ate is putrid and spreads diseases.

All dogs will also revert to feral behavior rather quickly if left to their own devices. Just look at all the tales about dogs eating off owners body parts like ears, noses, and lips if the owner passes out drunk or has a medical condition for a period of time or dies. Dogs are unpredictable neurotic little curs which obviously belong outside with the wolf packs they recently descended from.

Wow, your ignorance and stupidity really astounds me. I bet my house with my three dogs inside is cleaner than your trailer. Yes, lots of stories out there of dogs eating people's body parts. And yes, lots of stories out there about dogs spreading disease to humans. The only accidents my dogs have had in the house was when I first got them and they didn't know better. No accidents in over eight years.

You seriously have to be one of the biggest dumbasses breathing.
