I think your attitude, one that is easy to hold, is why these folk, with what I can only believe is a mental illness, practice their malicious arts in deep and difficult to discover secrecy instead of seeking mental help for their disease.

I don't know for sure, but I know that one generation of sex abuse of children seem to create the next and the way we deal with it now changes nothing.

Many of these pedophiles were horribly abused themselves as children, which rewires their brains, in essense, giving them these difficult-to-resist urges.

Of course they need to be locked up, where they can't do any more harm. But anyone who calls for them to be killed or tortured is proving their ignorance and demonstrating an utter lack of compassion. These people are themselves victims.

Where are the people who were defending Craig for being entrapped by the potty police? Sounds like Psudo mommy was saying come help my daughter and I will let you if you promise to be gentle.

Its going to be interesting to see the defense. And how long it will take for the wife to divorce him. Sorry, I just can't see him as a victim, but I can't see torture as the answer either.

It would be impossible to have compassion if you were the parent of the kid that gets abused I would go insane if that happened to my kid. Locking them up is a waste of resources, doesn?t matter IF they were abused to they are a permanent threat to society and should be put down the same as a rabid dog. My wife has to deal with aftermath these subspecies and also wishes nothing but death to them. Some crimes deserve no compassion.

I view pedophilia as a tragic condition, with the pedophiles themselves victims - but ones requiring society to protect itself from, strongly. No one here would like to have their brain wired in a way in which young children are seen as 'sexually attractive adults'; it'd be like living in a society where heterosexuality is treated as a horrible crime among the most evil possible.

This is why I'm in favor of more government help for pedophiles, where by help, I mean helping them to understand the harm their desires have on children (many seem not to understand it), and creating appropriate options for them to live away from hurting any children, rather than the current lack of such options which tends to lead only to demonization and secret harmful behavior until caught.

You are just clueless.

I am not subscribing to murdering the guy, take your moonbat strawman and take a hike.

I am all for a jury trial, by his peers, but I see no reason for society to suffer the likes of him. I see no reason for society to keep him alive either. Rapists and murderers do not deserve to live in a free society, they also do not have the right to BURDEN society with their care.

Fine, put him a gulag. These types of monsters should be forced to do productive work and never see any reward other than breathing another day. We have high crime in inner cities and the like because we don't do anything to curtail it. We simply let them off after a few years of provided free of their cost room and board.

What a novel idea. Put the bad guy in jail. Give him shelter, food, and healthcare, and then put him back in circulation thereby justifying police and prisons!!!!!! Whats next?

They should be demonized. They are monsters.

from dailykos or undergroup he is registered republican... guess I need to modify my tag

Its hardly an inspired guess on Republican given he is an assistant US attorney under a Republican President. But when it comes to adulterous heterosexual sex or even homosexual sex, its somewhat understandable, but pedophilia is in a category all its own. The OP has it right, sick F*** of the day, week, month, and maybe even year.

I hope no one tries to make political mileage out of this because it unjustly smears people who almost certainly had no idea this person was so perverted.

He is not in an appointed position. Then again why would I expect your blind hatred of anything possibly related to Bush to allow you any other conclusion?

Well, imagine for a minute this guy was abused from the age of 3 years old by his uncle until he was 12 years old. And his mother joined in the fun. The uncle beat him, degraded him, mentally tortured him and screwed him up for life. The kid becomes a sick perverted adult as a result of this horrific torture as a child. He can't be treated, he can't be cured. He needs to be locked up. No one debates that. But if you don't feel some sadness for the guy, you need to learn compassion.

That said, we don't know if that applies to this guy. He might have had a great childhood and just decided to get his kicks with little kids. Either way he needs to be locked up, but let's not claim that someone who gets their head twisted on backward as a kid isn't deserving of some compassion. WWJD? :)

Reforming my hypo just a bit, what do you do when the kid who is abused as described above gets rescued by child services at the age of 12? Do you kill him right then? He's going to evolve into the pedophile we so much revile and want to jail. He's the same person, just younger.

Actually Lemon Law started off with "LOL I BET HE'S A REPUBLICAN" which yes is very rational and whatnot.

All sick fucks are Republicans. Ivan the Terrible. Stalin. Hitler. Pol Pot. All Republicans. I heard Hitler listened to Rush Limbaugh actually on the kos, but I have yet to have moveon.org substantiate that for me.

Some sick old man wanting to have sex with a 5 year old is not a partisan issue is it?

I view pedophilia as a tragic condition, with the pedophiles themselves victims -

And I view you as a retard.

It really is amusing watching Craig blather on in his black and white tone about right vs left. While he completely ignores that leftist ideology murdered millions, if not hundreds of millions of people in cold blood in the past 100 years.

I'm pretty sure an ideology did not form hands pick up a gun and kill even a single person. Where does an ideology get this power then? How many people are you willing to murder because you consider yourself a conservative? More relevantly, would your ideology be forcing you to murder someone, or would it just be your excuse for doing something that it was already in you to do?

Edit: And on topic, the most frightening part of that story is his assertion that he has done this multiple times before and got away with it. Are there really people that are willing to hand their children over to this monster?

Hopefully the children he has abused are in counseling so they don't grow up to continue the cycle of abuse.

Bolded just for kicks.

Amazing, Craig, that you see fit to politicize everything. That's the definition of a partisan hack.

Cluelessness about what came out of your own keyboard (calling for him to lose his life when the laws do not have any such punishment and then denying you want him murdered, when your post had not a word about the right to a trial but instead called for him to already have lost his life now before any conviction); cluelessness about the cause of inner-city crime (and its utter lack of any connection to pedophilia); cluelessness about the cause of Pedophilia; and IMO cluelessness about morality. Just keeps proving the point.

He doesn't deserve compassion so much as he deserves justice. Throw him in prison for the rest of his life, but wishing death and torture on someone lowers you their level.

Nice to see people like yourself who get some perverted joy out of thinking of ways to torture and maim someone, gives you the true moral leg to stand on.

And a clue for Genx: The mass murderers from Stalin to Mao had nothing to do with being 'left' in terms of any discussion of US politics; but it does show soemthing about your bizarrely uninformed posts, since you seem to equate 'left' as in American democrat with 'mass murdering tyrants like Stalin'. No wonder you vote for Bush - you finally found someone worse, i.e., Stalin. Too bad you are so deluded as to see American democrats as similar.

You seem to have forgotten who stood up to tyranny - FDR with (right-wing) Hitler and (right-wing militarist) Japan, JFK with Kruschev, and so on.

Oh ya, who was 'soft' on Red China under mass murderer Mao? Nixon.

It's also only the American left who knew how to search for peace while defending freedom. While leaders like Nixon were happy to be inflexible and make enemies unnecessarily of anyone on the left, creating tragedies, it was the Kennedys who were able to start the process towards ending the cold war, with the first treaty to limit the nuclear arms race; while Carter led the world towards less conflict in the Middle East, Reagan led the Middle East towards an alliance with Saddam, the Iraq-Iran war, invading Lebanon, etc.

Your simplistic and wrong categorization of authoritarian dictatorships like Stalin as 'left' in discussing American politics costs you a lot of credibility you don't have to spare.

Pedophilia is a tragedy, to be sure. Unfortunately, those condoning murder and the like don't see the asininity and contradiction in their own contentions here; it does nothing to help the problem of pedophilia, and at worst just adds to the justifications of these same pedophiles to commit their acts in secrecy. Not surprisingly, much of this mentality comes from the same chickenhawks on the right, each and every time. Always an emotional response without thinking about the consequences and idiocy of such unneeded hate for a guy that was wired wrong. Put him in jail and help prevent pedophilia by making it acceptable for these molesters to come forward to seek help for their condition, where they can then be separated from the rest of society (since AFAIK, this isn't something that is curable, much like you can't be "cured" from being gay or straight).

I'm with you on this, but we need to re-evaluate our criminal justice and police/court structure in this country before it's feasible. At LEAST half of our budget/resources in the criminal justice sector go towards the utterly useless drug war. If we dropped the criminality of drugs (obviously not in the case of providing to children, used in violent/property crimes), then we could EASILY double/triple the penalties for crimes that are :

Violent
Sexual
Predatory to Children
Destructive of property

And this, I think, is a logically more important list of negative things to be concerned with than some dillweed getting high in his mom's trailer. Not to mention, it takes the profit out of drug dealing, and with cheap legal drugs, takes away any impulse to rob/steal/kill in order to afford a 'fix'. Looking at countries with lax drug laws, drug abusers are looked at with a casually sympathetic disdain, not the alien 'rebel' vibe they have here.

Hope this isn't too off the subject, but I wanted to state my agreement with your post, along with a logical path to enabling its reality.

You bring up an interesting perspective. We feel compassion and pain for the 12 year old who endured 8 years of abuse, but not for an adult? Or does that compassion end when he repeats what has been hard wired? Interesting. Another point...what if this guy took a stand on child abuse and wrote a book and went on tour telling his grim abuse as a child. Im pretty sure no one would be thinking "lets kill him for it". Yet, he's been conditioned and repeated the offenses, so we now loath him and want to shiv him to death?

I dont know. It's definately a complexity of emotions, and truly IS difficult to propose anything close to justice. The likelyhood of a child who was abused being an abuser as an adult is pretty high. I've seen reports of upwards of 2/3 to 3/4.

First I know the justice system is not perfect, no matter what you do sometimes an innocent person is going to get screwed because justice is only as perfect as humans are. If someone is convicted of pedophilia kill them quick. Then take half the money that would have been wasted in lifetime incarceration and put it to rehabilitating the victims. Once a crime like this is committed even if it was by someone that was also abused you can?t do much except kill them or lock them away for life, personally life seems like to much of a burden on the rest of society.

Put some of the money into Child Services also it is way under funded a lot of the good people leave after a little while for better jobs because of how much stress there is compared to the pay. They even gave my wife that?s a MSW 18k to sign a one year contract because its so hard to keep people or get new graduates.

If I sound harsh on the subject sorry, that?s the way I feel about it especially since I am a dad and could not fathom how I would feel if this kind of evil happened to my son.
