Should I tip the Airborne Express guy?

Hell no I mean maybe cookies at Christmas or something but I would call a 50 pound monitor up 3 flights of stairs "hard work". Also, around here, mail men/UPS delivery people get like $25+ an hour

You tip the pizza guy because you are too lazy to go and get the pizza yourself. The pizza guy likes tips because he has to use his own vehicle, and has to deliver 5 or 6 pizzas to lazy people, whom half of which may tip him. He also doesn't get paid much, and has to put up with people like you!

We tipped the furniture delivery guys... they carried 2 SETS of couches (for 2 rooms) and placed it exactly where we wanted (when we changed our mind twice). Wouldn't you ?

I've heard the general rule is... if it's not food, don't tip.

Thats not a general rule, what about bellman? What about parking downtown, don't you tip the doorman?

You didn't read my post. I guess I should have been more specific... When I go to pickup my pizza and wings at the pizza place, and I don't tip them I get a look. I tip the delivery boys. What kind of riff-raff do you think I am?

There isn't anything wrong with not tipping in a situation like that, even I ( a tipped employee) think its stupid to tip someone who didn't do squat.....

When I worked as a delivery guy (subs), I got paid more than minimum wage (unlike waiters) and got fifty cents per delivery extra for my vehicle. So I was making more money than the guys busting their a$$es making the subs for driving around. Still, was I pissed if someone stiffed me on a tip? Hell yeah. I was 17. That said, I still tip food delivery guys when I use them.

I used to tip my barber until I got smart and bought my own clippers and do it myself now. I am saving $10 every three weeks! But I miss my barber, he cut my hair since I was 10. I think I'll schedule an apt soon. Just to say HI!

No i didn't, i was just stating examples, atleast you have class and tip in that furniture situation. I wish more people like you stayed at our hotel, nothing like an asshole who pays over $200 a night for a room and tips $1 for help with his/her luggage.

It's a job. Tip or no tip, you're supposed to bust your ass. Having said that, I always tip my pizza guys. I order like 2, 3 times a month, and I don't want anyone spitting on my pizza.

Yes, and they know that this is going to happen when the APPLY for the job. The pizza place offers this as a convience to people, but they also fail to mention that (at least around here) the pizza is cheaper if you don't have it delivered. So why should I pay more money on top of the extra charge to have it delivered?

And the argument about getting my pizza to me on time... if it's not there in the time frame that I'm given on the phone, and I mean, giving about 10-20 minutes of lee-way, I'll have no regrets about calling them up and complaining. I also have no problem with leaving a tip for OUTSTANDING service, which does not just include the delivery, but a friendly voice at the other end of the phone, an earlier delivery than expected and pizza that looks like it just rolled out of the oven. But NEVER will I tip for just standard performance.

I hate to sound like an ass to some of you people who don't understand that when you take a job, you should know the requirements and benefits of it before you start. If people wanna tip the pizza person, that's fine. But I'm not.

No one tips fast food workers for getting their burgers to them fast. Until that happens, I see no good reason to tip the pizza guy.


The only expception I make on this issue is if I have the asian guy from Papa John's that bows to me when he delievers the Pizza. He gets a tip everytime.

My airborne and UPS guys are cool. My FedEx guy sucks. He NEVER leaves packages at my house due to an "unsafe location". I live in a nice neighborhood and it seems USPS, UPS and Airborne don't have a problem leaving stuff. I have filled out several of the release forms, complained at the local pickup spot and even spoke to a manager. It is such a pain in the a$$ that I really hate shipping through them.

I had a buddy who used to deliver pizzas, he kept a list of non-tippers...and , well..you can imagine what happens from there.
