He is going to have to carry a 50lb monitor up to third floor of my apartment building, I feel sorry for the guy LOL. Is tipping a good idea?

I dont know about you, but he aint gonna carry that up 3 flight of stairs.

He'll drop it off on the first floor. And most likely ring your door bell to have you come down.

Not a good idea when he's going to drive his delivery truck right after it.

No way no how!

He knew he was going to have to do things like this sooner or later when he took the job.

That's like tiping a Pizza driver. Sorry to all you pizza drivers out there, but you aren't going out of your way to do anything.

No no and no.
What's up with all these 'tip the UPS, FedEX, USPS' threads? They are not working for minimum salary and you have already payed for the service.

I remember that next time when I have 6 deliveries at once, and I'm faced with the decision on which to take first. Or hell, th next time I come to work and your pizza has been waiting for 30 minutes (a rarity, but it happens) to be delivered, I'll make sure and not bust my ass to get it too you as fast as I can

Pizza delivery and UPS, FedEX.... is not even in the same ballpark.
How much does a pizza delivery guy make?
How much does UPS, FedEX, USPS guy make?

The Fedex, UPS delivery guys make mad money. Plus benefits and stock options and such. If you don't tip a pizza delivery guy, you're an asshole definitely.

They barely make anything, and make most of their wages in tips.

If they delivery guy is willing to bring up the 50lb monitor which I'm assuming is a 19" CRT, give him a cold can of soda or something.
It's good that you get to know the delivery guy. I know the UPS guy really well. He lets me check packages to see that they're in good condition before I receive them. If they're not in satisfactory condition, he takes it back without question and tells me that he'll put it as refused cuz of damage.

He lets me check COD packages as well. Just be nice, offer him a cold drink

I agree. I was replying to this "That's like tiping a Pizza driver. Sorry to all you pizza drivers out there, but you aren't going out of your way to do anything."
