If you are interested in any of the following, you may want to look for another game
  • Mods
  • Dedicated servers
  • Custom maps
  • Custom rules
  • Greater than 18 players
  • Leaning
  • Console (as in, pressing "tilde" console)
  • A developer who gives a crap about the PC platform

Yeah, you read that right. On top of that the game costs USD$90 in my region. $90. Ninety fucking dollars.

I bought MW2 at midnight launch and had a blast playing SP for two hours. I wanted to continue but had to check out the MP to see if it was as bad as all of the people with no fucking clue claimed it would be. Well it was 2 seconds to get into a game and it was a great lagfree game. I need to play more to see if there are any downsides but so far this game is win on PC.

No, I'm much of an FPS fan, but the few aspects I do like about them were stricken by IW in the name of 'game balance', so I'll spend my hard earned money else where.

Unfortunately, here it will only arrive in stores after 17 th, its normal ,we get the games in about a week after world launch.

Yes, please play more multiplayer and let us know. I'm on edge of getting the game, but if iwnet actually pulled it off then I might just end up getting it.

I miss my clan mates =(

They said it was to make it easier for people to get into games, and that people were complaining on their forums about hackers all over and not being able to find games and such. I'm not sure how these people failed so hard, I manage to find good servers within the first day of getting a game, and then from there on it's a small matter of jumping in one of your favorites.

The funny thing is they're calling the gamers who want dedicated servers a vocal minority, when their response makes it sound like it was a vocal minority on their forums who made them change it. In my mind if they really cared about gamers being able to play the game they would have put in both systems, it's been done on other games and works. Instead they choose to remove one very popular method because people are complaining in their forums...just seems so stupid to me.

That's because more than likely the reason they removed it was to avoid spending the development dollars supporting it. They clearly already thought that PC platform was not bringing in enough money (hence the $60 price) and adding dedicated server support to the platform that brings in the least amount of money does not make financial sense.

The other reason tossed around is that not having dedicated servers allows for tighter control and makes it easier to pitch paid DLC.

In either case I don't buy their original story and am personally am kind of tired of companies trying to convince me they are looking out for my interests. Just come out and say it "we cut it because it had a low ROI".

"Lagfree" doesn't mean the game appears smooth, it means your location and actions as well as the other players' location and actions are received by your machine fast enough to create a seamless experience. Whether you know it or not, the game makes any discrepancies between what other players actually did and what appeared to happen in front of you during the time you don't have that information disappear, effectively using methods like local hitbox detection(using local model position to determine hitboxes, even though the game knows the other player has already moved, but cannot make the character animate smoothly into that position) to make it appear as if the game is "Lagfree".

Well, I got it delivered today via Amazon's release date delivery, and since I had the day off work anyway I've been playing it for awhile, and I really like it. I'm not generally into MP anyway so I was getting it for the single player experience regardless, and so far so good on that front.

Also, for those complaining about the price, I got it for $51 + $20 credit on Amazon.com . There were other similar deals out there, so its not like you HAVE to pay $60 on it.

Will be playing some more tonight.

As for clans, I know there are private matches to setup. The Robert Bowling blog post explained them slightly.

All of the problems this game has? They providing a game equivalent (superior IMO, if for everything else equal than kb+mouse) to the other platforms.

Your decision to buy this game all comes down to your personal principles, and what they are worth to you. If playing games is like wiping your ass after you take a sh*t, then go buy the game and be done with it.

• Why are people upset about COD5-MW2?
You should really watch this original IW interview of COD4-MW (PC vs Console) which talks about what made the original Modern Warfare such a "great" game.
• What is IW's response to Modern Warfare 2 dedicated server petition?
West takes a shot at the motives behind some of the outrage, noting that there's money to made by selling dedicated servers and adspace on them: "It's a little dubious. Some of the people complaining are complaining with their pocketbook."
If you combine the above two IW response together, IW is saying to MW2 PC Gamers: The game has become so great because we worked hard with pc gaming community, and now that we can take care ourselves we don't need you anymore."

• So why can't we have both dedicated and matchmaking co-exist?
Why not have both? West does not want to include dedicated servers alongside the custom-built backend, stating that it would just "bifurcate the community."
IW is like them communists. We can't have rich and poor people in the same room so lets take away all the rich people's "extra" money so everyone in the room can all have equal amounts of wealth. Wtf..?

If you had a chance to finish reading their Dedicated Server Petition response, IW is basically calling majority of their current PC platform customers(you) cheaters, pirates, money hungry server hosts, and unimportant pc gamers. If you agree with the above IW accusations, support a game that backstabs the people that made them possible, and buying a game with less options than its predecessor then go knock yourself out.
