As long as there are boys who haven't finished growing up, there will be a HS show.

Sorry guys this is not a FREE SPEECH ISSUE.

IT is a decency issue and since the FCC controls the radiowaves and we have LAWS regarding what can be siad on those waves it falls under that.

Because anyone can pick up radio signals there are decency laws that and the public owns the airways and lease them (at a very low cost) to the radio station.

Cable and satalite do not fall under these laws. When the fines start mounting then CC or whomever is paying Sterns salary can look at it as a COST and continue to fund him OR can decide that the cost both in dollars and in PR is no longer worth what money he brings in.

A good exaple of this was Politically Incorrect, which was cancelled not due to poor ratings But because sponsers no longer wanted to fund the show and be associated with it.

This was not Sears killing Mahr's Free Speech it is Sears No longer funding it.

Stern could soon find himself in the same boat. Sponsers will decide if they want to be associated with him and while gaining his loyal group of followers perhaps losing a much larger demographic.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

congress =! FCC

Decency laws have stood up in the highest courts when they apply to the public domain and when the government has money involved in them. You can't ge a obscene word on your vanity plate either.

When the stations aquired the rights to use the radio waves part of the license grated to them requires that they serve the public interest. Time and time again the courts have rule that these radio and TV waves that are owned by the taxpayers can not be used to transmit obscene material.

Is it just me, but Howard's non-stop FCC/Persecution talk is starting to wear me out? I hope me saying this isn't sacrilegious. I love Howard, but it's getting repetitive and taking away the reason why I listen to the show in the
first place. I want to hear about Gay C, Tag Bagging, lesbos and him ripping on Jay Leno. Howard's newly raging Messianic complex is getting a bit much.

Yeah that does sound sacrilegious, doesn't it.

But congress is passing a bill right now to censor howard. I don't how anyone can claim it "is not a FREE SPEECH ISSUE." Oh and the FCC was created by congress so it is a first ammdement issue.

Gaah, wanting to regulate satellite radio is going overboard. For public airwaves for a kid to hear all they have to do is purchase a radio which costs next to nothing. I can see why they want to increase fines there.

For satellite radio not only does the kid have to come up with a substantial amount of money for the radio, they have to have a credit card to pay for the service.

Generally in this country going through the steps above to listen to a satellite radio is still considered the responsibility of a parent to police. This is why satellite radio should not be censored. It is not broadcast over public airwaves and is in my opinion not subject to FCC regulations that fine for swearing and whatnot.

Oh and Skoorb, I'm fine with gay marriage. It may not be my cup of tea but if two people love each other, even if they are the same sex, then let them. It's quite possible to allow gay marriage but still prevent the sick stuff like some nut marrying his sister.

However this is all moot. No one person as an individual who is not in government has a drop of say in this country.

I really cannot believe that there are people who are dumb enough to blurt out "Howard Stern Sucks", and not know the real issue here. Really blows my mind. I met Howard, Robin, and the boys this past Thursday (I won Stump The Booey!), and was in the studio when Congressman Ackerman called about the bill that was going through the house that very day. They were shocked when Ackerman said the vote was today (Thursday). It's no joke, they're really not sure what's going to happen. Howard said he's effectively resigning once Bush signs that bill. Can't really say I blame him. At least Howard has some friends in high places that can fight the fight, but who knows if it'll be enough.

Politically Incorrect was cancelled because Bill Mahr was fired by ABC. They didn't like what he said about the Sept. 11th attacks. Something to the effect of, "Maybe we are the cowards, we're firing cruise missles from hundreds of miles away. At least the people fighting us have the courage to ride their missles until they hit."

I loved Politically Incorrect, it was a great show, and Bill Mahr was an awsome host. I miss that show a lot.

Good job at that, even if I was sad to see you win! Do you have a pic of that girl you brought in?

He has indicated a willingness to consider either. Other things being equal I would rather see him go to XM because the radios seem better-designed, and it sounds like a better service, not to mention that it seems to be heavily favored by carmakers (no surprise, since it appears to be substantially owned by Honda and GM).

Well Ford has alot of stock in Sirius. you can count on all of thier cars(ie Mazda, Jaguar, AM, etc) to start having units in the car. We (in my company) have already seen the push to Sirius. Also the tech that Sirius has is better than XM(Streaming video and data all on current equipment no hardware upgrades just software) makes it a better choice IMO. Also both will be the same company in 10yrs IMO

Haha, yep, lots of 'em. Most of everything she said was B.S. for to make for better radio. :) Why were you sad to see me win? lol. I was so pi$$ed that I had a mental block of "Talk Dirty To Me". That's my favorite song by Poison, but it all worked out in the end. :D

You know how it is - I always have to root for the Booey, just so I can live vicariously through the guys when the curtain drops. I am keen to see what the girl looks like, just because they were making such a fuss over her. Can you e-mail me one? Thanks!

It'll be on the E! show in a few weeks. I was dead tired, only slept like 2 hours tops the night before. I can only imagine how it's going to look on tv, that damn camera was all up in our grill.

I don't think any of you can see that the government and CC etc want everyone to move over to sat radio. This is why all this is taking place now. To get everyone mad at public radio and move to a subscript service. All the sat radio companies are losing money, they need listners and now people will pay to hear what they want to. same for AM vs FM and TV vs Cable

Misinformation. ClearChannel DOES NOT own XM. They're just a minor stockholder, and this information came from Howard Stern himself.

They hold about 30% of their shares and this information was not from stern. It's been known, and I've know this, for over a year.
