In any case, Cindy's protest has backfired!

Text

10 percent say the tart-tongued Californian, who blames Israel for terrorism and said she wants to curse out the president to his face, has actually made them more pro-war.

Among military families, the anti-Sheehan effect was even more pronounced, with 22 percent of military households saying the Peace Mom made them more likely to back the war

here you go

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_fighter
Freedom fighter is a relativistic local term for those engaged in rebellion against an established government that is held to be oppressive and illegitimate. The terms "freedom" and "rebellion" are often controversial, as often both sides in armed conflict claim to represent the popular cause of "freedom". While external intervening parties, even oppressors, almost always claim to be "liberators", 'freedom fighters' also often become oppressors in the eyes of civilians.

Though the literal meaning of the words could include anyone who fights for the cause of freedom, common use is restricted to those who are actively involved in an armed rebellion, rather than those who "fight" for freedom by peaceful nonviolent means (though they may use the title metaphorically).

So "freedom fighters" killed Casey? I assume from her other quotations that freedom fighters have the moral high ground on soldiers haphazardly killing innocent people, and given that "this country is not worth dying for," the freedom fighters actions were noble when they took her son's life? Isn't that what it amounts to? ...the freedom fighters struggle against the evil her son was a part of?

I just finished the article; I am not alone in my analysis:

"What's her problem then?" asked one messageboard poster on FreeRepublic.com. "Her son was killed by a 'freedom fighter.' She should be proud."

Liberal Government groups started doing just that.

HUD was suing people in the 90's because the individuals were speaking out about illegal and corrupt practices within HUD. The courts threw the cases out.

BATF started threatening the owners of gun stores who spoke out about abuses from BATF.

There are other cases but more broadly political correct speech is basically the removal of the freedom to speak. Since unpolitiallcy correct speech can now get you sued it is a major tool in the attack by the left.

Finally, the Supreme Court has upheld the Campaign "anti-freedom of speech" Finance Reform that was proposed by liberals and, sadly signed into law by conservatives and liberals. Worse, a Republican President who chose not to stand up to the pressure signed it. This was when he and most Republican's quit getting donations from our family. I'm sure liberals also quit donating to the liberal politicans that helped pass that (out)law.

So, yes, freedom of speech is nearly dead in one of the most free nations in the world. Thus, the Fascists will most likely win. Especially when a liberal becomes president and gives, via treaty, the U.N. power over U.S. citizens.

You know, the only time I hear anything about this woman is when some republican is complaining about her. I find this to be quite ironic as most republicans don't want her in the news...

I don't agree with her use of the phrase "freedom fighters", and I don't agree we can just leave Iraq.

I also don't agree with the Presidents policy of fighting this war based on a rosy scenario, and not having a war plan that secured weapons caches and borders.

Of these two people, only one has the power and authority to make bad decisions the official policy and action of my country. The other person is just a citizen like me, and I don't believe advocating hatred of a fellow citizen based on their political views is productive.

I also don't hate the President, even though I don't agree with him.

And if another country attacked a United States some day, invaded and occupied our land, and deposed our president, I am sure all of us who decided to fight against them in a non-military capacity would consider ourselves terrorists! And if Canadians and Mexicans crossed the borders to help, they would be terrorists, too! Bahahaha. Puleaaze. The OP suxorz. Czar already owned you with the definition. The anti-war movement and the media are the ones attempting to keep her in the spotlight...various news agencies and media reports provide commentary or coverage of her protests on a daily basis.

At least the positive news coverage she has received dismisses all accusations of the news media being controlled by the fascist Bush regume.

This has been my take as well, although I certainly don't condone the insurgents' attacks on civilians. If, hypothetically, a larger, more powerful nation (if there were such a thing) with a liberal-to-socialist set of ideals (say, Sweden) assassinated President Bush and took over the US, some percentage of the population would consider it a welcome change, but many, probably most, would violently rebel, and refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of the new regime. I'd submit the fighters would consider themselves patriots, cut from the same cloth as the Founding Fathers, not terrorists.

As to the original topic of this thread, it's clear to me the only reason the radical right is so consumed with discrediting Cindy Sheehan is that her protest has gained a fair bit of traction with the public, and at least in the eyes of some, makes President Bush look weak.

That's certainly another collateral benefit, and one that I can't imagine is lost on Mr. Rove himself.

You realize that ATP&N comprises about 30 people, right? You can draw no legitimate inferences about the population of anything from this little microcosm.

That's a very good point, Captain. Just think, liberals go after Rove, only to find that the dog has flees and no legs...America didn't pay attention. They go after Delay, only to find a dozen Democrats all guilty of the same thing they are accusing him for, so they back off (to use their staffers and limited resources to file revisions to their documents before they pursue him so more)...America didn't listen. Now they latch on to Cindy as if she were 'the Rosa Parks' of protestors and she has now become the voice of the DNC...the media is listening, but America thinks Cindy is just like the rest of the lunatics they threw out of office...we're not listening to the extremism any longer.

So while you seem to assert that this is a mere distraction the Republicans have concocted, it seems more likely that the Democrats realize that their other complaints and whines are going nowhere, so they stand Cindy up like a pinata and try to penetrate the egg with their sperm from another avenue of attack...yet falling on their faces once more.

Have the Moveon.org Democrats learned nothing from a decade of political failures? (Rhetorical question).
