The mod community is what really excites me about this game. It feels like it be the new "Neverwinter Nights". A game where the main story was good, but so much more was done by the community...

Anyone else excited for that part?

I agree. The level making software looks great. Once people learn to use it, expect a near endless supply of missions.

I have no idea how I completely missed this game, but it unlocks in 2 hours on Steam and I just bought my copy.

Wait... You've see the level making software? Is it out already?

Check out Youtube. Tons of videos of the editor. Early backers have had it for a couple of months.

Lucky you! You didn't experience the disappointment when it was pushed back last month!

It has been sitting in my Steam library grayed out for the last few months. Today is the day!

I think it will be a solid title for the $17.99 that I paid for it.

Ah that would have killed me lol.

I am a total fanboy of well done isometric RPG games. Something about them gives me that same feeling as reading a great book. Just sucks you in.

Ok, I don't usually buy games when they are released anymore (because I won't really get to them anyway for a couple months, so why not simply get the 1/2 off discount that occurs), but I am buying this once I get home!

Fuck that shit.

Edit: I'm an adult, I'm fully capable of deciding when I want my progress saved.

I've been watching TB play through it and I have some ideas why one would want checkpoints. For the most part, it makes your decisions and actions more permanent. When I played Fallout way back when, sometimes I would end up in areas that were too advanced but judicious use of the save and reload could get you through. Don't like how that turn went, reload. Don't like how that combat went, reload. It seems like there are a lot of dialogue tree options and having checkpoints makes you think more about what you choose and do since you cannot frivolously go back and retry things. That's more in tune with the classic RPG, particularly table top games.

I'd personally would want to save or at the very least have a save for when you exit the game so that you don't have to wait until you hit a checkpoint to quit.

I won't have time to play it myself for a while though despite the fact that I've got it sitting in my Steam list.

I just played the first hour. I like it it a lot! You can tell a lot of care went into the writing and art design.

Very story driven. Lots of dialogue choices. Went with a rifle toting Elf shaman for my first play-through.

^^ Thats goods news. Any glitches or bugs so far? How does game save? I'm huge fan of tabletop RPG. Use to play the game back in early 90's when I was in Navy.

Nope, no glitches or bugs so far. Definitely feels like a quality package, especially at its price point.

I really didn't pay attention to how often it saves. I noticed an auto-save right before I was ready to shut it down, so I won't lose any progress this time.

My only complaint is that moving the screen with the mouse is a bit oversensitive and I didn't see a setting to change it. Much easier to use WASD, so not a real problem.

Seems to auto save when you start a new "level" and that's probably my only gripe with the game, I like to be able to save when I want.

Also sometimes there are no enemies in your immediate vicinity but rather further down from you, but you'll be stuck in combat mode which makes it frustrating to move your people further along together.

I haven't played it and look forward to doing so, but the lack of a decent save function really shits me off. What's with modern games doing this? I want to save when I want, and if that makes the game easier well that is my business. My time is limited and I don't want to replay parts of a game.

In all fairness when any game comes out, the Steam forums are a bitchfest lol

I can't believe I've got 5 hours into it already. Haha. It's all I've done this evening.

The story & characters are great. I think the biggest strength of the game is the character customization. Race & Class have a part but you can really have full control where to distribute points (Karma) in every possible attribute.

I was a backer on this, and after 2 hours, quite satisfied :D

I ran into a small bug - one of the optional objectives (find out more about the Pike murder) keeps reappearing whenever you walk nearby. It's obvious that's it is on a proximity trigger, but doesn't check if already completed... you can't recomplete for bonus karma so very minor detail.

Not 100% sold on the autosave only feature but I can live with it. Another aspect that would have been nice (but probably too expensive/difficult for a project this size) is to have a slightly more living feel to the city. It's old style in that nothing happens unless you do something - NPCs stand around in the same spot just waiting for you.

Overall the general feel is close to the original RPG... I even dug out my old core rules to check some of the slang :p

A positive is the sheer number of dialogue options. There was one with 3 normal options with 3 greyed out - strength of 6 to intimidate, charisma of 5 to charm, etiquette of academic to bluff. Gives all your character customisations a reason to exist.

Glad to see a kickstarter work and work well.

Summary: if you like isometric, old-school RPGs with a solid story, plenty of character customisation and lots of options in dialogues then this should be your cup of tea.

Something that could be added to this for steam is achievements or trading card. I'd love to see us card for each archetype...

This happens for literally every single game that gets released on Steam, regardless of how good it actually is. Welcome to the gaming "community".

I just played for 3 and a half hours and it didn't even feel like an hour went by. I'm really enjoying it, love all the dialogue stuff.

I found one annoynig bug; if you click on a clue it pops up a wall of text; now if you click on the next clue it pops up a wall of text over the first wall of text and you can't read it; if you click again both walls of text vanish but if you click on the clue again you can't bring up the wall of text to read it - very annoying and amateurish bug.
