Yeah you're right. I pre-ordered for some reason and I'm not sure why :p

But I have a soft spot for rpg's with turn based combat and the humor looks good and fallout-like, so I'm really hoping it's an enjoyable game.

I played the original P&P RPG when it first came out back in 1989 and still have a soft spot for the setting (along with an entire bookshelf of the source books). I'm really looking forward to it. I just hope it is good and will lead to a series of adventures in the Shadowrun universe, because if it is bad I'm afraid we will never see the IP genre again, and maybe never see the Magic+Cyperpunk genre again.

So, I'm very conflicted. I want it to be great, but experience tells me to keep my expectations low.

While this makes me sad (Since I want to play it) I hope that this means they are polishing it and making it bug free. :)

According to the kickstarter update that's exactly what they're doing.

Here it is: The Official Release Date for Shadowrun Returns is July 25, 2013.

We know we’ve been saying June for some time, but now that we’ve reached this final stage of development, and although our Kickstarter funding was spent some time ago, we've decided to invest additional time in bugfixing and polishing the game. That means a longer crunch period for a tired team, but everyone agrees that it’s worth it.

One of the most common pieces of Backer feedback we've received over the past year is that we should take the time we need to ship this game. We really appreciate that, and we know we've thanked you already about a hundred times already, but we're doing it again because we mean it. Thanks.

You gifted us with your trust as well as your funding and we take that responsibility very seriously. You gave us the opportunity to contribute to something bigger than ourselves and something we think is worth all the time, sacrifice, and hard work. Soon, we’ll give it all back to you.

The mod community is what really excites me about this game. It feels like it be the new "Neverwinter Nights". A game where the main story was good, but so much more was done by the community...

Anyone else excited for that part?

Just run it in a VM and snapshot the VM whenever you want to save your game. This may or may not work depending on how much this game needs GPU resources.

I remember seeing this on kickstarter and passing on it. It looks nice though, and for only $19 I might just pick up a copy on steam.
