Shadowrun Returns: alpha gameplay footage

Do+want.jpg

Look interesting enough. Sure it's really early in the development but I hope the game play improves, look a bit boring.

But the original Shadowrun feel is there and it's what got me! Hope to see more gameplay footage like this soon.

Hand-drawn looking environments look great, characters look kinda bad and out of place, game itself looks pretty damn sweet.

I was a little off-put by them as well, but I think they look pretty sweet overall. But then again, I also thought the 2D/3D animation mix in Titan AE was awesome. 😛

Nice. I hadn't paid much attention to the Kickstarter campaign.

I'm officially on the Shadowrun Returns bandwagon.

I never played the first game, but the video gameplay there looks pretty darn solid.
Reminds me alot of Fallout 2, and that is by no means a bad thing.

*wish there where kill animations*

Now the question is, are they still on track for an "early summer 2013" release? Summer is less then 3 months away, and they are still calling that an alpha. I am hoping they are not behind schedule, because that would probably put them at a fall release, which will bump them up against Wasteland 2.

Damn this is sweet; the first one on Sega Gen was awesome for cyber hacking 🙂 snes combat was pretty good; but like the Sega better.....

This is so nice 🙂 sooo can't wait

Word on the street is June 26...only 3 more weeks.

I went ahead and pre-ordered. Anybody else?

I think it's worth the gamble @ $17.99.

At that price it is hard not too.

I don't know. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for this game also, but it is going to go on sale for 19.99 on launch, only 2 dollars more then the pre-order bonus. I can't help but notice that it is 3 weeks from launch and we still have nothing more then the early alpha footage from 3 months ago. So, for 2 dollars I think I'll wait.

While I'm hoping that this game will be the awesome Shadowrun game I've been waiting for, my trust in the gaming industry in general is getting pretty low.

Speaking as a backer, we've been getting pretty regular updates. No hard footage aside from the occasional screenshot, but either they're making progress or they're spinning some ridiculously elaborate lies.

Jordan Weisman and Mitch Gitelman are also scheduled for a discussion panel at Gencon in August, apparently to discuss "the future of Shadowrun Returns", and will host a "hackathon" where participants will compete to build the best custom level in a set amount of time. All of which indicates the game will be launched well before then.

I have the uneasy sense they're trying too hard to meet their original promised launch date instead of focusing on delivering an excellent product and incorporating all the extended features promised from the extra funding at release.

Yeah you're right. I pre-ordered for some reason and I'm not sure why 😛

But I have a soft spot for rpg's with turn based combat and the humor looks good and fallout-like, so I'm really hoping it's an enjoyable game.

I just saw that it is supposed to have Steam Workshop support immediately after release. Hopefully we get a lot of good user-created content.
