That's why I will never take the Republicans seriously on immigration. They don't want to see American workers start getting power back after the top 1% has so thoroughly won the class war of the last 35+ years.

The only people that really care about this are Republicans so it's certainly not about money or losing jobs because if that were the case everyone would be bitching. The hate for Mexicans stems from the same reasons they shoot Indian engineers claiming they are Muslim terrorists. It's because they're fucking pussies and scared of their own goddamn shadow. Surround yourselves with guns, report all black people or brown people as terrorists, and if one of them knocks on your door, by God shoot to kill!!!

As an American and a human being this systemic fear of non-whites is embarrassing. Grow some fucking balls.

For the record, secure borders are a good thing for all Americans. It's a serious issue and should be given due attention. However, building a fucking wall and announcing a plan to snatch children from their parents as they cross the border is unbelievably retarded and really really offensive.

Sessions is almost comical in his villainy.

"We will separate children from parents and deport 3 year olds to dangerous countries without anyone there to aid them. Also we will definitely kick your puppies and burn your cats". I hope someone in the next administration finds crimes they can prosecute him under.

Doesn't #1 encourage folks to sneak across the boarder so they can take advantage of the path to legalization without having to go through the official immigration policy? I know amnesty has been offered in the past, always with the idea that it's the last time and won't be done again, but we continue to have illegal immigration regardless. At some point we have to say no more or we are effectively opening our boarders to anyone who can sneak across.

There's nothing wrong with enforcing our current immigration laws. If folks want to apply for asylum then let them do so via the official process, which is different than just crossing illegally because they feel they have a right to. Same thing goes for coming across and having an anchor baby to game the system.

Folks who employ illegals should be prosecuted for doing so. But I hate the idea of illegal immigrants having no legal source of income once they are here. It's silly to think we can find and deport them all, so we have to deal with them one way or another. Folks in this country without the means to support themselves is a recipe for disaster, plus they do a ton of work most Americans won't. Overall they are a positive on the economy, but that doesn't mean we can just allow them to illegally immigrate without any control. Maybe we need a guest worker program of some kind that easier to get into then the current work visa programs.

I don't think there are any easy answers, but not enforcing our borders is a terrible idea. At the same time simply enforcing our borders is not a sufficient solution by itself.

I wish my countries leader had the balls to do this.

If you want to immigrate then do it legally, if literally the first thing you do in the country is break the law by entering illegally then you should be turfed back to where you came from so you can be a criminal there instead of here and be a burden on your own taxpayers.

#1 is about dealing with the people who are already here. You discourage future illegal immigration by addressing the demand side of the equation. If people know they will not be able to work and support themselves unless they do it the legal way then there is less incentive to come illegally. Making it easier to come for temporary work and shortening the wait for legal immigration also works to reduce the incentive to come illegally.
 
Once someone immigrates here illegally we need to either quickly deport them or get them on a pain-free path to some kind of legal status. If we choose not to deport someone, then fines and/or criminal punishment does nothing to help them become productive, self-supporting members of society, which should be our ultimate goal for any person allowed to stay in this country. We keep offering amnesty over and over again because we haven't locked down the boarders sufficiently to prevent the illegal immigration that continues to occur.

Our economy depends at least somewhat on cheap labor to perform the jobs Americans don't seem to want to so, but we can't allow that cheap labor to be exploited because of their illegal status. I believe we need some kind of simple guest worker program that allows us to both curtail illegal immigration, while giving migrant workers decent working standards, legal protections and fair wages. Maybe participation in a guest worker program would be that path to citizenship so many seem to want.

But so long as the best option in immigrants minds is to sneak across the border and work under the table, that's what folks are going to do. We need to give them better options, while locking down the boarders at the same time.

Agreed. I just feel we need to lock down the boarders and offer amnesty to those here at the same time. Then creates some kind of guest worker visa program that meets the needs of both migrant workers, their families and the industries that want to employ them for work Americans don't seem to want to do. I've met tons of hard working day laborers and farm workers in California doing jobs most Americans won't touch. They are an asset to our economy we shouldn't mistreat or lock out of our country.
