Seven people in the history of Duke basketball haven't graduated. Compare that to other schools.

Know your facts before speaking out against Duke.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAHAHAHA! High Academic standards! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

That's rich.

Let me guess... rejected ED?

don't hate Duke- I don't know the name of a single player, what sport they play well (basketball?), etc., etc., other than it's a school. So everyone doesn't hate Duke ;)

I would imagine that Duke bball players are a wee bit more intelligent than say a UConn, Mich State or Oklahoma State...

Granted bball players usually have far lower test scores than your general student population, but still it is Duke.

<--State fan who pulls for Duke cept when they play State

No. I just don't delude myself into thinking that somehow Duke's players are "smarter" than those from other D-1A schools.

Here's some proof.

Good thing that's only four years old :disgust:

True, I live right in the middle of the whole Duke - UNC - NC State - Wake Forrest gang so I respect them all on varying levels...

But the hate for Duke seems outrageous:confused:

The Duke was loved my most all Americans.

John "Duke" Wayne that is. ;)

ncaa basketball??

haha... i guess its human nature to root for the underdogs....

no one really likes the yankees, lakers, or goliath (unless its their hometown)

If the patriots win a few more superbowls i can see ppl starting to that them too... sure they may be a true "team" w/o one real superstar, but thats just the spin ppl put on them to like them.

I take it you guys haven't heard Billy Packer or Jim Nantz call a Duke game? They hate Duke and almost can't contain themselves. Just because Vitale loves Duke doesn't mean the media does. In fact, this misconception that "everyone loves Duke" has caused so many people to blindly hate Duke, that I'd consider it the other way.

huh?

Only seven people that have played basketball for Duke in its 100 years of existance (or at least in the last 30 years of early entry) have not earned their diploma. At many schools, a lot of players don't every YEAR, either due to early entry or to just dropping out when the season ends.

same reason everyone hate the yankees

bingo.

I honestly don't see that comparison (seriously, I'm curious).

Many people hate the Yankees overpay for players, buy championships, and have singlehandedly wrecked the economics of baseball. (And every Yankee fan wants to suck Derek Jeter off.)

Duke has no financial advantages when it comes to forming a team over any other team. Say what you want about the Corey Magette situation from the mid 90s or whatever, but Krzyzewski's recruiting practices are at best totally legal, and at worst significantly more legal than most programs. Most fans are also critial of their program when it is warranted.

What else could it be? Jealousy of a consistantly winning program? Seriously...

Fantastic article...
