Everyone hates Duke probably for the same reason that you Wolfies hate UNC so much. Duke beats up on everyone so often, that you're either a bandwagon fan, or you just hate them. UNC has the same effect on people too. However, what I don't understand is why an NC State fan won't root for UNC. We usually root for you unless we're playing you or if it's in our best interests that you lose. But you'll never see a state fan root for UNC. Ever. I have a brother that went to state and several friends who went to state and it's the same thing from all of them. I guess we don't mind state because we know we're so much better than them. :p

I'm the same way.... except when Duke is the ACC team in question.

And you got beat twice by a team "Not In Tournament", once being on your home court. The Terps proved early on that Duke wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, and thankfully MSU put the nail in the coffin.

F*CK DUKE! GO TERPS!!!

huh?

Only seven people that have played basketball for Duke in its 100 years of existance (or at least in the last 30 years of early entry) have not earned their diploma. At many schools, a lot of players don't every YEAR, either due to early entry or to just dropping out when the season ends.

Can you say three year sociology degree?

Seven people in the history of Duke basketball haven't graduated. Compare that to other schools.

Know your facts before speaking out against Duke.

I stand by my claim, have you seen how easy this kids have it at school? They take easy classes, have personal tutors etc...
They are professional athletes hired by their university. College Sports are great, but they shouldn't pretend to be on the same academic footing as the normal student body at a place like Duke.
The only true student athlete university in the country is Stanford, and even there the athletes are below average students.

Nope. I"m not saying they're hard-working students, but additional "well-rounded" education requirements and a 34-credit graduation requirement make it impossible to graduate in less than 8 semesters without overloadeding regularly. And yes, athletes are held to the same standard in this regard.

Because Coach K is the least likable coach EVAR. Nasal voice, hardass, stupid hair, always looks like he has a pole up his ass, his pownage of the state of Alaska for recruiting...so many reasons. Oh...another reason. Back in '93 when I first moved to the US from Canada I didn't really give a sh*t about NCAA basketball until my first March Madness came around, and this white supremacist in my NH high school kept talking about Dook and about how Dook was such a good team because they let more white players start games. After that I always equated Dook ball with white supremacists, even though nowadays and throughout most of recent history they are as balanced as any other NCAA team.

Sorry, edited for clarity. Like I said, I knew nothing about the NCAA and this stupid kid was all "DOOK DOOK DOOK" and I just mentally associated that program with white supremacy, nothing I could do about it. Of course, in '97 after I started at UNC I knew a LOT more about bball, but I had other reasons to hate Dook! ;)

Same here. I may be a die hard Heel fan, but I respect Duke and their players and their coach. Coach K is a tremendous supporter of several charities and I'm sure his players are good people. Now on the basketball court I hope they all break their legs, but it is just a game.
Jigga, I know you went to UNC, but you're giving us a bad name. Just stop.

Oh come on. I grew up in NC and used to hear the same thing about UNC. This is nothing new.
