necro is older than that. fusetalk normally archived old threads so they couldn't be bumped, so bumping a thread that should have been archived was like bringing a thread out of a crypt. hence necro'd.
 
I dunno, it's nice to read threads from back when this place wasn't fucking terrible and filled with 90% trolls. I find myself missing a lot of the posters seen in these threads.

It sure beats the endless religious and racial troll bait that quite a few people constantly get away with posting. That shit is oh so original and hilarious.
 
Posting in an old thread & reviving is sort of a forum culture issue. Certain forums flame those for starting new threads about topics already vetted. Search first! is often shouted.

This AM I got a post that a 5y/o thread in a car forum was posted to. That followed by another post that the guy apparently knows how to use the search button.

My take is: If the thread is less than a month old, go ahead and bump it. Otherwise, start a new thread.

I'd argue reposts aren't nearly as bad as necros. At least with reposts, we get to mock the idiots that repost. With necros, people usually don't know wtf is going on until a dozen or so posts in, then it's just a bunch of people milling around and talking about the weather and whatnot. At least in some cases, reposts end up being somewhat hilarious.
