Why do you have an apostrophe in "necro'ing"?

Necro = necromancing (or necormancy or necromanced, depending on usage)

"Necro" itself just means dead or death, "necromancy" is the raising of the dead. Some pen-and-paper RPG fan probably repurposed the word back in the 80s or early 90s for BBS, I'm guessing.

Sorry this is backfiring for you. Better luck next thread.:awe:

Did it, really?

True, I doubt it will stop the necro shit so on one hand, yeah, it's "backfire". On the other hand, it provided some sort of actual fresh content for the day. I guess in essence it's a self-serving bit of epic thread win.

Why not? It's not like necro is a proper word anyway. Making it into an even more improper word is just that much more improper.

It would be a couple lines of code and less than an hour of work to fix the problem (which imo, is not really a problem, but seems to be for others). Just need to make threads go into an archive mode after so many years and it would basically be locked. Though this place is odd in that the admins arn't actually the server admins, so don't even think they have access. Does this place even have server admins? lol

Here's what's funny with the "ZOMG NECRO!" movement. If people start a new thread, then everyone yells at them for not searching and for making a repost. Guess the rule is, there can only be one topic on a subject and if that topic dies out then it must never be brought back up in any shape or form ever again.

Apostrophe is used typically for possessive forms or contractions neither of which "necroing" falls into.

I'm going to wait until this thread has not received any replies for about a year or so.
