Also note that the number of federal workers per capita is at it's lowest point since 1962 at 8.4+ workers per 1,000 people (no stats before then)....

That's a pretty interesting statistic. I wonder how much of that has to do with the proliferation of computers, etc., that make people more efficient at their jobs and cut the need for extra employees.
