true, but there wouldn't be anyone left to run the country. Can we please grow up and stop posting this 'In Your face!' drivel? People screw up. E.g. Slick Willy.

Its funny because he's from Nevada.

No, it's funny because he's a member of the "Family Values" party...who seem to have even more "moral lapses" than the evil Democrats...

BUT, as has already been mentioned...at least his affair was with an adult woman...not an underage boy/Senate page.

Or Jefferson.

Uh, you can easily criticize Jefferson's behavior, but who was he married to? Who was Sally Hemmings married to?

Oh, that's right, no one. He was widowed, and she was not married.

While it was an abusive relationship with the slavery, and he viewed it as 'good for his health', she was treated as a 'concubine'; they likely had 6 children. It wasn't an 'affair'.

Also it's rather refreshing to see a Republican Politician have an extramarital affair with a female and not an <underage male. It's almost as if he was a Democrat.

Actually, if he was Democrat who had sex with a underage male, he'd just get re-elected 6 more times. (*cough* Gary Studds *cough*)

So what other handles do you post under? Or is it only the really important stories like this that are deserving of your incredibly rare and insightful commentary?

I don't condone it, don't like it, think it's a slimy thing to do - however, I think it's good that he stepped down from a leadership post...unlike some of those one the other side who don't seem to step down after "scandal".

I only post under this handle. Its just I don't post much due to kool-aid drinkers such as yourself insisting ignoring the post and going after the poster.

I'm hardened to the lying, get-nothing-done reps of NJ, but as a social moderate/Republican voter, I am extremely disappointed in this guy. When stuff like this happens, especially when you go after Larry Craig and call him a disgrace 3 months before having an affair yourself, it looks really really bad. Forget his voting record or what he ran on -- politicians say whatever to get elected. But I can't fault the libs for pointing out the hypocrisy. It only marginalizes social conservatives' positions even more.

Exactly my point....

BTW, voting records indicate where someone stands on issues. Or is at least representative of his/her constituency.... In either Case Sen Ensign FAILED to live up to this 'higher standard'.

I started this thread with I could give a rats ass about who's poking who where, none of anyones business, DEMOcrat or Republikan. Non-partisan, simply an observation on idiots in politics.

Whatever happened to the old lefty excuse, "They're only human...give them a break!"

When a Democrat gets caught doing something like this, the response from the left is, "Meh...who cares! He's only human, cut him some slack! Hey, /highfive, he was getting some on the side!"

When a Republican gets caught, the response from the left is quite different, "WHAT AN OUTRAGE! THIS HYPOCRITE CLAIMED TO BE A FAMILY MAN! THEREFORE EVERYTHING HE HAS EVER DONE AND SAID IS INVALID BECAUSE HE MADE A MISTAKE!"

Oh, the double standards...mmm...

Not really, and you should know better.

It is not the party affiliation, it is the hypocrisy.

Oh, the hypocrisy from his statements is quite apparent.

However, you should know better too, and that when a Republican gets caught with his pants down, the faux outrage from the left is much more intense than when the same happens to a Democrat...

I think faux outrage comes from those of all political parties, and to say otherwise is trollicious hackery at the very least.

I never said it didn't, but in this instance, and as per the subject of the thread, my point is very relevant.

Well, in terms of hypocrisy, it's not as bad as what usually happens to republicans: they look for gay sex in bathrooms and trailer parks.

It's because you guys tried to crucify clinton for his affair, but you seem to have a very different standard when it comes to your own. We just want you to be consistent, even though we already know you're hypocritical scumbags.

To me, it's always been highly relevant whether a politician has been faithful to his/her marriage vows (assuming it's not an open marriage with outside 'interests' allowed). If Joe Candidate's wife can't trust him, neither can I.

Adultery is an age-old societal tradition. Gay marriage is not.

Hypocrisy not found.
