You know you been treating ebola and you get on a flight. Not going cry when you die.

While the personal responsibility taken is pretty low she did call the CDC before hand and they told her she was safe to fly.

I mean - whats the worst that can happen right?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that Vinson called the agency several times before flying, saying that she had a fever with a temperature of 99.5 degrees. But because her fever wasn't 100.4 degrees or higher, she didn't officially fall into the group of "high risk" and was allowed to fly.

The human species may get the Darwin award as a whole...

It's 90% from what I've read. The 70% figure may be from the current outbreak in Africa. Overall, it's something like 50% to 90%.

On the bright side, as more people die, the mortality rate should fall.

Hopefully we don't have to find out but there has been some speculation that that rate is so high because the medical care in your typical Ebola outbreak areas is so abysmally poor.

Reading different articles on the reporting of causalities seems to indicate that the survival rate for the current outbreak is being dramatically over reported... being much better than Africa might not be in the range people are expecting here...

Those are labs. For research etc..
Yeah, that list must not include hospitals... Apparently the hospital they sent the nurse to in Atlanta is BSL 4.

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2014/10/15/hospitals-lack-ebola-preparation

When Vison’s diagnosis was made Wednesday, health officials announced later in the day that she would be transferred to Emory University Hospital for care, which has a Biosafety Level 4 unit, a self-contained area independent of the main hospital.

The point is, your typical hospital (like Dallas Presbyterian) cannot handle this type of case. So... Why the fuck did they try to treat them? Admitting the patient put a huge number of people at risk, primarily the nurses treating the guy.

Just look at the huge list of mistakes they made.

My prediction for the next case: That guy going all "business casual" to an ebola patient transfer.
Anyone want to place wagers? I'll bet he doesn't.

Unsubstantiated rumors such as this are little more than fear mongering.

I was only half serious. Mostly just because it looked ridiculous.

Apparently that guy is some sort of supervisor who is supposed to make sure everyone else follows protocols. But there he is, touching some hazmat suit with his hands, with supervisors like this, who needs airborne transmission?

So what? The suits are there to keep bad juju inside the sick person's suit and out of the staff suits.

I wonder how long Ebola is going to be with us?

Are we going to block off all ports in the near future? Right now were concentrating on Africa. What about other countries? When I was in Thailand I met quite a few Africans. Thailand is a favorite vacation spot. What if I catch the virus in Thailand, Vietnam, or even Japan?

Obama is gonna announce this evening a Ebola Czar to head up the new Office of Ebola Management.

Another new Government entity, like Homeland security.
