I thought it would be funny if china published their own photo with their Olympians slanting their own eyes. They could have their Olympic record vs the Spanish's Olympic record.

The whole underage gymnastics thing kinda screws this up but it would have been funny 🙂

Actually, the caption is correct, if it were "We are preparing for China" it would say "Estamos preparando para China."

This isn't very surprising though, cultural/racial/ethnic insensitivity is very common in Hispanic culture. They probably think nothing of it. My Mexican parents think its hilarious. I don't, but oh well, nothing new or unexpected.

I was in Spain when they won the Euro Cup. It was fucking amazing! 😀

I think it would be great if the entire country of Spain had a 10 second moment of pulling the sides of their eyes back in honor of the Olympic games and stupid news stories.

Not a valid comparison. Even if you call the Midwest Dumbfuckistan that doesn't make it correct. But if call the Chinese slanty-eyed you are entirely correct.

No the translation is correct. "preparado" is the participle form; therefore, it acts as an adjective. So it is "we are prepared for china"; "We are preparing for China" would be in the gerund form "Estamos preparando para China"
