SEC - The premier dominant conference.

I'm fairly certain that if T.Pryor had been 'caught' with 3 different cars someone other than joe blow on an internet blog would have reported it

OSU players weren't treated as victims - the question was why they were allowed to play in the bowl game

As for Newton - no one on this board knows if his Florida academic record was clean or not - typically with these stories, where there is smoke, there is fire - the laptop thing - come on - throwing a laptop out the window when the cops showed up - that tells me he damn sure knew the thing was hot - and do you really believe he had no knowledge of what his dad was doing? I still don't get how he ended up at Auburn at all - but we'll see - I have a strong feeling this is going to be another USC story in a year or two.

As for the conference discussion - it's hard to argue against the SEC right now. I think the conferences, in order of football, are the SEC, the Big 10, the Pac 10, the Big 12, the ACC, the Big East.

Worst thing about the SEC? Like the Yankees and the Red Sox - their fans!
 
As a fan of Big Ten team that is scratching his head at the latest re-org...I don't deny the performance of the SEC. They are dominant and tough as nails.
 
The SEC should start selling hats and jerseys with their logo on it.
That way all the SEC fans can stop hoping their team is good each year and just root for and claim the best SEC team each year.

Why? Just because we not only have teams we are fans of we also have some conference allegiance.

So in the first sentence you dismiss the Pryor rumors, then later on for Newton use "where there is smoke, there is fire" cliche? Whatever. I'm guessing you're a B10 fan.

For what it's worth, the Pryor stuff is pretty common knowledge around the area. It doesn't surprise anyone. And shouldn't if you know anything about the kid's personality. Entitlement complex is an understatement.

The PAC-10 was a better overall conference in football in 2010. Get over it or write an emo letter to Sagarin.

Read the last sentence of my previous post. I posted the link to answer Gigantopithecus' question "how 'bout those SEC academics?"..... that not all SEC schools are dumb. I never said (expressed or implied) that SEC schools are powerhouses in academics.

But in football, we rule, at least since the Bowl Alliance/BCS Championship creation in 1992 up to present time, especially the LAST 5 YEARS IN A ROW 😀

I'd have had a lot less of a problem with Auburn this year if they hadn't played so dirty. Really, I live in SEC country and I see a lot of SEC games. And most SEC games I watch the SEC officials "miss" calls or make "mistaken" calls in favor of the higher ranked team. In addition the dirtiest play I've seen at any level of any sport has always occurred in the SEC. But this year, Nick Fairley was setting the bar for dirty play. He's a talented defensive player, but he intentionally tries to hurt people even after the play is over. I'm confident in saying that if he'd played in any other conference, the conference would have suspended him for his play. And if he plays that way in the pros he'll be fined and suspended early and often.

I do feel bad for Oregon that what would likely have been an overtime game where who knows what would've happened. Was instead a regulation loss largely on the back of one hell of a blown defensive play that I can't even fault the defender for ... most players would have thought he was down and ended the play to avoid getting a penalty for unnecessary roughness or a late hit.

Using your logic I could argue that the NFC West is the greatest division in the NFC because the NFC West has had the most Super Bowl appearances in the past 5 years.

Uh.. if 4 different NFC west teams had won the past 5 superbowls in a row, they would be be called the "premier dominant conference" in the NFL. Your analogy is pathetic.

All you can do is guess. There is zero proof that he would have been suspended. There are dirtier players in FBS. And bad calls happen all the time. You obviously do not watch a lot of football to claim it happens mostly in the SEC.

Auburn could have been up a lot more, but missed a few easy passes for TD's. Or the fact that they fumbled to give Oregon the ball back and then they tied it up. What if that didnt happen? You can what if all day long, Oregon lost. They were overwhelmed. 300+ yard rushing on average all year, and first time being held under 100. That says it all right there. Your opinion that they would have won in OT is just that, opinion. They sure couldnt have ran, like Auburn could and did all game. There was still 2 minutes left after that fluke play. They probably could have gotten enough for a FG anyways.

Oregons only other SEC game was similar in the first half, being down 13-3 to UT. Then just ran away with it in the second half, mainly because of their up tempo offense. Than an a 76y INT for 6, and a 80 punt return for 6.

Hmm, no. How many Pac 10 teams finished in the top 25? SEC has 5, actually in the top 22.

Its not the most, its all of them in the past 5 years. And 7 in the last 13, being 7-0. While Auburn got screwed going 13-0. An SEC team goes undefeated should be in the championship game no matter what. Its not only about the wins, its about who gets selected more for the NFL, which again is the SEC. There is no higher level than the NFL, so you cant compare who moves on from there.

Try reading the thread, before posting. And... stop being bitter that the SEC is the best. 😀

Read the thread. See the quotes? My post was about why I think Sagarin's conference ratings are flawed. It has nothing to do with last year or the year before.
