We all know the people victim blaming here would pull the same shit if it wasn’t a highway. There would be some other excuse about why the victims are at fault.

The real problem every single one of the posters pulling this shit has is with the concept of the Black Lives Matter movement in general. Every single time whatever posters are doing when they are BLM protesters is ‘not appropriate’ in some way.

Fucking cowards just won’t own their real position which is they want black people to shut up.

Which obfuscates the point entirely. It's the old "She shouldn't have worn that dress" argument. Pedestrians have the right of way under any & all circumstances. Period. The the driver is an idiot who managed to kill somebody.
Yes, the idiot driver managed to kill someone who shouldn’t have been standing on a freeway.

I was surprised at how many Americans were openly racist in 2016, which was quite telling about Donald and his fan base.
I was surprised yet again at how many open racists we have in 2020, which is also quite telling about Donald and his fan base. It makes me sad.

Was the car legally on that freeway?
It is illegal to deliberately drive the wrong side of the freeway. It is also illegal in Washington state for pedestrians to cross or occupy a roadway outside of a crosswalk, and vehicles have the right of way outside of intersections, per the Washington State DoT website.

Was it legal for that car to be on that freeway when it was. Yes or no.

So what? The law also states

Drivers exercise due care - Every driver of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian upon any roadway and shall give warning by sounding the horn when necessary

Was that car legally on that stretch of freeway, yes or no?
you won`t get anythinmg other than a convoluted answer.......because he will go to the Washington state DOT website not understanding that if the road was blocked off for any reason by proper authorities then ther car has no legal right to be there!
Then he will claim that nobody had the legal authority to block the freeway.....so he will go round and round never answering the question!

Context matters

So the car was legally on that freeway when it struck the pedestrian, that's your final answer?
Ok.
No, I said it would be illegal if he deliberately drove the wrong way onto the freeway, and additionally if he was aware that the highway patrol was locking it down. He entered the freeway about an hour after the highway patrol locked it down. Freeway lockdowns don’t magically happen. You have to position police, signage and equipment. It’s quite possible he made an error.

I expect his defense will be that there was inadequate signage and communication to drivers, and that the vehicles placed by the protestors across the freeway obscured his ability to see them.

None of this changes the fact that the protestors shouldn’t have been in the freeway to begin with. This is why the highway patrol issued a statement that they will now arrest anyone attempting to do so.

It's perfectly obvious that the driver behaved recklessly resulting in the death of a pedestrian & serious injury to another. The cars blocking the freeway were clearly visible there under the streetlight when there was plenty of time to stop or slow to a crawl & I'm sure the pedestrians were as well. The rest is immaterial, such things being your usual MO.

Pedestrians cross streets at designated crosswalks, not dance in the middle of freeways. Common sense is obviously immaterial to your argument.

I hate to break it to you, but even if a pedestrian is on a highway illegally, it's still both illegal and very very wrong to run over them with a car, no matter the legality of the vehicle.

"Officer, they should've moved. Why would I slow down if I don't feel like it? Plus these drugs in my system make it hard to drive, but isn't that my drug dealers fault for selling them to me? Or maybe it's your fault for not shooting the drug dealer for no reason. *Cough*, I mean reaching for a weapon."

In my humble opinion, the autonomous zones were a bad idea that eventually ended with death and destruction. It seems the majority from both sides will be looking for law and order going forward. For Joe to have a chance, he'll need to come out with a definitive position on this, which im fairly sure he (DNC) does not want todo.

I still don't get why these idiots think they need to block highways and streets. There are plenty of other places to to protest. People hoping to stop me, smash my windows, and ultimately drag me out of my vehicle have crossed the line and it's no longer peaceful protest, but anarchy. At that point, if I run one of them over, it's in self defense. Stay the fuck out of the street, for one. Don't fuck with me, for two. If you fuck with me, then you get fucked up, you had it coming to you. If I come across someone blocking the road, I will stop. When they start breaking my windows and try and get to me physically, is where self defense instinct kicks in and they'd better not be in front of me, especially if I have family with me.

You didn’t bother to learn a thing about this incident did you?
