Seagate 7200.10 320gb SATA available most places now...

i was looking at getting two of these. anyone already have them? seagate claims the form factor on 7200.10's are now "1-inch" as opposed to "low-profile" on pre-7200.10's. does that mean they're not as slim anymore and are now as thick as maxtors? i have four 7200.7's and like the slim fronts since i have a fan blowing in front of them. thanks ~

Fluence's hot post at PageComputers shipped = about $110
Personally, I wouldn't spend the extra $30 at the Egg.

please tell me you forgot to edit your math too 😛
2 drives x $15 = $30 😀😀😀
Can't you read my mind?

I dealt with PageComputers last year when I bought my Acer 1715 monitor. After shipping, they were $10 cheaper than the next cheapest vendor (Newegg). I had to email them for my tracking info on the monitor, and they responded to me email the next business day with the tracking info. I was happy with the service.

This is my first time ordering from Page, I needed a new hard drive and this looked like a good deal. Hard drive and SATA cable for $123 shipped to my door. Ordered on Friday, June 2, recieved tracking info on June 5 and UPS shows item is out for delivery today, June 9. One week total from order to delivery.

I'll let you know if all is alright with the new hard drive.

I'd suggest getting these from Buy.com or Provantage now, as they have a slightly cheaper price, or waiting and hoping that availability rises and prices drop some more.

Which is it SATA or Ultra ATA 100, they list both in the title

It has the model number for the SATA version with 16MB of cache, although I still wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being the PATA version.

Since Buycom has the PATA version here:
Link

It seems this is a case of their inventory person not having a clue.

Buycom's almost out of the SATAs anyway, and Provantage has as good a price to most cities.

thanks to this link at storagereview from Howard (lifer), it would appear there are extreme loudness probs with certain versions of the 320GB drive being shipped.

http://forums.storagereview.net/index.php?showtopic=22660&st=25

According to the posters, seagate is using 200GB platters with short stoked wands to ramp up shipping. 320GB drives should have 160 Gb platters (2). Also OEM drives are set for performance not silence.

Since I am ready to buy several of these drives right now, I would appreciate some feedback from those here on noise factors as you receive these drives in the mail.

I hate noise, so if I have to wait for retail, I will.

And, can it be true they are actually making PATA perpendicular drives?

just FWIW.

Do you NEED a special controller card to use a SATA II drive like this in a Dell 4700 that came standard with a 40 gb WD SATA I drive?

isn't everyone who is registered to recieve buy.com emails get the 10% off coupon? i received one but i got it at around April, and ofcouse its useless now. I guess receipt of coupons is uniquely timed for each email.

I'm subscribed and have gotten these coupons in the past, but I either seem to have not gotten the email this time or deleted it. 🙁

I've been subscribed at Buy.com for a few months and have gotten a ton of emails from em, but none of them have ever had any coupons in them. Don't know why. Maybe I have to have been subscribed for a certain amount of time, or spend a certain amount with them, before they send me any. Sucks for now though, cause they spam the hell outta me and nothin useful comes of it.

My drive shipped from Buy.com today. They sent me a notice it was on backorder but they must have had some in stock becasue it shipped out already.

Delivery for Friday 🙂 Cant wait i needed this drive bad!
