How do you know he was trying to race you?

He already explained, read the thread.

I did, the thread was moving too fast and I didn't update it before I posted. My bad. People with slow cars shouldn't try to race. Like me =).

:) What Car?

Have you ever raced someone? It's pretty easy to tell.

No. My civic is too slow. Even with all the bolt ons and such. And no I don't have a "ricer" car. Just tastefully upgraded =). (full suspension, bolt on, stereo)

PS. Upgrades were to make it more fun to handle and ride in. And no, I don't have any VTEEEEEEC stickers.

I've seen some of these "ricer" cars beat a lot of cars... especially the V6 Mustangs, slap an automatic on them and you're sure to lose with the V6 Stang. Issue is that the ricer car probably has shorter gearing, weigh's a ton less, is FWD, etc. and those things are enough to make it win.

Ok... different gearing, and weighing less... those I understand... but how the hell would fwd be an advantage while racing?
Maybe fwd is better for people who don't know how to drive... but rwd and awd are better for driving fast if you know what you are doing...

For anyone trashing Jules for racing. You guys are idiots. Jules is an experienced and mature driver and only went slightly over the speed limit. There was nothing dangerous about it really. A good red light rumble is America's past time. So please go get your head out of your ass and find another thread where you can instantly take the other side just to be argumentative (translation: a douche bag).

And Jules....Nice Kill! ;) :D

 OMG I am so confused...has ATOT really gotten this stupid or do they just have an automatic read half the post and bash mode.

He was racing something with a lot less horsepower and it was the other person that wanted to go.

I am a strong advocate against amateurs street racing (100mph+) it gets people killed. I am also a strong advocate against people who thing their v6 econoboxes are sporty. I also hate rice with a passsion. There was nothing wrong with this.

Man I wish we had user ratings and not just thread ratings.

Yeah, I must have missed the Hot Deal thread about Ivory Towers, but by looks of some of the responses here, they must have sold out fast!

While I hope you don't think your Maxima is fast, putting those types of drivers (ricers, it's a lifestyle) in their place is quite comical. My friend had a stock looking '92 Integra that was pushing about 400 whp, and it would be hilarious when he would absolutely demolish ricers that thought their fart pipes were intimidating. Some of them would see the FMIC and suddenly start driving like grannys, though...

Mature drivers don't race on public roads. Why did he need to race the guy in the first place? Most of us are well aware that a Maxima will beat a tC, so what is there to prove?

Well that's not really fair, explosive diarrhea can do, what, low 12's in the quarter? Not many production cars will be topping that, but they at least smell better.

without getting into a discussion about racing. You do realize it the the same VQ that is used in the 350Z and older G35? Granted you have drivetrain and other minor engine/exhaust differences but the engine is basically the same.

A scion TC could probably beat my stock V6 automatic vert Mustang (2005), besides having a CAI on my car it is stock and is not very fast. Course I did not buy the V6 for the speed

What year is your Maxima? A new one has a curb weight of 4600lbs give or take.
Only wrong by 1,000 pounds.

A new (2007) Maxima tips the scales at just barely under 3,600 pounds.
