Unfortunately the politicization of climate change is a result of the fact that it will take political action to help stop (or at least slow) man's abuse of our environment. What that entails is hard for everyone to agree on.

I think we do need to reign in the use of fossil fuels for one and stop using "clean" coal altogether. Sadly Im too addicted to cow meat to give it up though.

I award this post many wins, because it may be the first (and only?) time in AT history that FDC is not the most insane person participating in a thread.

But, per the original post, why wouldn't there be more sea-ice in the Bering Sea, if more chunks of ice are breaking off the ice-cap due to climate change?

Thousands and thousands of people, conspiring together! Of those many thousands, did anyone ever come forward to confirm this great conspiracy? You guys are all the same on a smaller level. None of these measure add up to a hill of beans, as long as our population continues to explode, we're going to have problems. That is the root cause, banning drinking straws (LOL) and such are little more than feel good measures.

Oh, there are many more significant measures which we can take than banning straws, but they're blocked on the federal level by the people you vote for. Banning straws can be done on a local level so we're doing what we can.

Remember when the left said polar bears would be extinct soon, but their population has exploded? Remember when Al Gore said in "An Inconvenient Truth" (2006) that polar ice could be gone in five years (still there) causing catastrophic sea level rise, and then went on to buy ocean front property? I am not saying man doesn't influence the climate and that we shouldn't care, we obviously can have an impact on the earth and environment we live, but as the left tends to do, most of their predictions are melodrama and scare tactics. Youtube is littered with climate change predictions of leftist scientists and politicians over the last four or five decades that have largely proven to be untrue.
