I don't understand this kind of reflexive response whenever someone proposes a change to make things better. There's always someone blaming the person who could benefit from things being better.

I'm not sure it's been working for decades. We have decades of research that shows kids don't learn so well that early in the morning. Can we drag our asses through this and survive? Sure. Can we set the school day back an hour and do much better without dragging our asses through and barely surviving? NO! That's for bad parents, lazy spoiled children, hippies, minorities, and woke people!

With that attitude we would still be pushing carts around with square "wheels". What's been working for decades doesn't mean it has been working well. If there's a better way to make learning better for students, why resist the change?

I agree, we can get our grandaughters to sleep 730-8pm but it is a PITA to get the out of bed at 6am.

On the flip side, we can also let them stay up on the weekends until 10 or 11pm, I have actually tried letting them stay up as late as they could, they will still come out of their bedroom between 7-8am, everyday.

I am off on Sunday and Monday, so during school time Monday would be a break sort of. On Sundays, I get to get up at 7-8am every Sunday, because the grandaughters do not get the concept of sleeping in. This is K and PS ages.

when I was in school in the 70s in WI start time was 8am and ended at 3pm, including 30 min. for lunch.

To some people I suppose it doesn't.

I personally have no children that aren't grown. It doesn't effect me at all. I was only presenting a solution that we used back when I was in school. First period started at 07:30 AM and we were out of school at 03:15 PM.
Of course back then we didn't bus kids all over hell and back to go to school. I usually walked to school about 1.5 to 2 miles away.

I used to take my son to school when I got off work at 06:30 AM so he arrived by 07:00 AM. He never had an issue with it. Honor rolls and full ride Scholarship to the College of Charleston.

I guess from what I see in the news and in person children are much more fragile these days.

Back when you were a kid, black people probably didn't have civil rights. Maybe they were just fragile just then.

Suck a dumb argument. Old men saying just cause some people functioned fine in the old days, everybody is weak now.

You know, fucking back in the day there was no minimum wage, no worries safety laws, no overtime, and people survived, today's workers are fragile!

This isn't a conversation about race or civil rights, minimum wage, safety laws, or overtime. It is about getting up on time to go to school.

It also prepared them to get up to go to work and being on time and flexible.

Everybody functioned fine in the old days, but you are entitled to your opinion(s).

Just because I said news doesn't mean Fox news. I read the paper and online news sources too.
