The OP's site put my location in a town that's 50 miles away. WhatIsMyIPAddress was a bit closer at 31 miles.

OP's site put me in UNITED STATES
Second site put me in New York City
WhatIsMyIPAddress put me in fucking Oxford, MS

I'm in Florida damnit. Maybe it's because I'm using my cell phone for internet.

This thread illustrates the fact that most people don't know the difference between precision and accuracy.

We have 3 IP mapping web sites so far:

Site1:
http://www.hostip.info/index.html -> Worked for me but it didn't for many other ATOT posters

Site2:
http://geobytes.com -> about 20 miles off for me, but it apparently it is more consistent.

Site3:
http://whatismyipaddress.com/ -> This site also points my to my city. Other members had good results with it as well...

Edit: I will setup a poll to keep the discussion going. Keep playing with me too...

;)

I understand the difference, but which case applies to my original IP site?

High accuracy, but low precision

or

High precision, but low accuracy

I use a cellular ISP, and these things are always way off. I'm in northeast Kansas, locators usually pinpoint me as being in western Arkansas. Never understood why, if anybody knows a lot about cellular data services I'd be interested in any insight you can offer. :)

every single ip location site puts me at Tel Aviv. i'm twenty minutes from Haifa and about 90 minutes from Tel Aviv. the first site (the highly accurate site) had no idea where i was.

First one said my country, second one guessed NY incorrectly, third picked my town up.

I am at work where my system is routed through another city for a federal program. The last got the correct city I am located at, the other two hit the city I am routed through.
