Would not happen if there is a chance to retreat
Maybe, maybe not. Could be some would stay and fight so others could retreat.

IGBT is right, all this bombing is window dressing for the blind and lazy obama followers.
Why is it window dressing? Read below.
History proves Harabec right.
Whether it was trench warfare in world war I, bombing the crap out of Japanese controlled islands in the pacific, carpet bombing in Vietnam, the past decade in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan,,, bombing alone does not win the war.
Obama wants to arm the people fighting against Bashar al-Assad. Where is that going to take us?
Putin is going to see obamas actions as destabilizing the area. Putin will not allow the Bashar al-Assad regime to fall. The more obama arms the rebels, the more reasons Putin has to intervene.

I don't have a direct quote from you, but you did mention something along the lines of "Bomb them back to the stone age"
So now that it's being done, you're against it.
You have proved yourself yet again to be a fucking moron.
Do not move the goal post.
First you say "surrounded and facing certain death."
Then you say "if there is a chance to retreat."
But either way, there are numerous examples of American courage.
If the Iraqis don't think that their country is worth fighting and dying for, then neither do I.
If the Syrians want to have a revolution, then they will. History shows that getting involved in other peoples revolutions isn't likely to be productive.
Let them fight it out. Then, lets try diplomacy with the winners.

I remember saying that.
You do not know what a figure of speech is? I guess you took me literally?
If we are going to bomb someone back to the stone age, use nukes.
Just let them kill each other at no cost to us.
Surrounded and facing death from a much smaller force? There was no "at the first chance". The Iraqis have been fighting terrorist groups by the dozens since the beginning.
When a group was surrounded and facing certain death, yes they booked.
Do you think Americans would of sat there and fought to the last man?
We shouldn't have gotten involved at all. Let them set up a new caliphate in Iraq & Syria. Let them slaughter the Christians trapped on the mountain. Maybe the world will see Islam for what it is. If it gets out of control, Iran can deal with it.
There's no good guys in this fight. Just varying degrees of bad guys. This administration has a bad habit of intervening in conflicts between two groups of people who both hate us. Just let them kill each other at no cost to us.
This is another example of a major government getting sucked into Guerrilla warfare with an enemy that holds mobile positions. It won't end well for occasional civilians or the US governent's budget.
It's sad because the US airstrikes will only fuel the propaganda fire to get locals affected by the airstrikes more interested in joining.
What Iraq needs is a hardcore dictator with a strong army and no patience for other groups trying to takeover his realm....willing to use chemical warfare to deter cells of civil unrest.....Wait....we killed him.![]()
It sucks because the area was more stable before, despite the way we looked at it. ISIS is a mix of different kinds of people. It's not just a group of crazy, one dimensional extremists...it's less predictable because of how geographically widespread it is. The subgroups likely have different goals. We can only hope they have internal struggles for power after the american attacks that disrupt them and disband them. I just don't know if airstrikes will be enough.

The Iraqi forces completely outnumbered ISIS while being better equipped at the same time. You have very low faith in the US military if you think we would've lost with those odds if the US Army was there instead of the gutless/feckless Iraqi army.

We just do not understand islam.
how exactly do you "bomb ISIS" do they have fixed bases and buildings they launch missiles at?
It's not like these guys are a country with fixed government targets, they are a roaming group of people and I don't think they stay in one location in easy to identify groups.
Did obama ask permission from Bashar al-Assad before dropping bombs on syria?
Has obama met with Bashar al-Assad? After all, last I heard Bashar al-Assad was the president of syria.
We all know obama is not a team player. Whether it is appointing people to positions while congress was out, negotiations on the debt limit,,,, whatever the problem, obama has shown time and time again he is NOT a team player.
The Syrian regime was notified of the U.S. plan to take direct action against ISIS inside Syria, a senior State Department official told CNN on Tuesday.
The United States did not seek the regime's permission, nor did it coordinate with the Syrian government, the source said, adding that Secretary of State John Kerry did not send a letter to the regime.
On state-run media, Syria said its U.N. representative was informed Monday that the U.S. and some of its allies would target ISIS. Syria also said its foreign minister, Walid al-Moallem, "received a letter from his American counterpart delivered by the Iraqi foreign minister which informed him that 'the U.S. will target the positions of the ISIS terrorist organization, some of which are in Syria.'"
True, you only know what has been spoon fed to you by the media.
Yep, and all the videos on live leak showing mass killings.
Who could not love a culture who lines people up and shoots them in the head?
There was a video posted a few weeks ago of men being brought to a river, shot in the head, and their dead bodies falling into the water. There was so much blood on the deck the shooter was sliding.
