France is very protectionist of their heritage and culture and isnt happy that nothern african muslims are immgrating.

One of the few instances where France is superior to england.

Chalk one up for the media.
Leading the American sheep to the slaughter.
But wheres the shock n awe?
Wheres the bombs?
Wheres the journalist hiding under the tables?

Next week, watch as the media does their typical 180 for support of the conflict.
Beginning to see the trend here?

Dubya doing the shock and awe thing isn't what is happening atm.

That whole mess was ridiculous to begin with.

Yeah you're going to say it's the same mess etc etc.

I already did.

Anyway, I'm surprised to see the Saudis get off their royal fannies and try to clean up the mess they made.
About fucking time.

There are various ways to feel about that one, but yeah, they are highly responsible for a lot of the crap going on there atm.

Methinks there has to be spotters on the ground guiding the munitions in. May not be Americans to satisfy the "no boots on ground" policy, but I really can't see an air campaign being effective without FAC's or similar positively ID'ing targets of opportunity.

So, we are bombing a sovereign nation who has a mutual aid agreement with Russia?
Syria has no functional control over those areas and the people with control over those areas are using that control to strike at third party countries.

Both Syria and Russia gain from those strikes so unless we start holding territory there there won't be much fuss made.

The illegal war for oil was a bit of joke, just curious as to when/if the liberals will complain about dropping bombs without a declaration of war by congress.

It's that "war for oil" as you call it that's partly to blame for this mess in the first place.

Did obama at least get permission before violating a sovereign nations air space?

Of course he did

Bombs away you bastards! have fun where you're going...

I find this unprecedented that the UAE is a partner in this. But despite what Obozo says, we WILL have to put boots on the ground.

There is boots on the ground, people who are familiar with the areas so you aren't bombing a bunch of innocents because they are moving around

With our track record of eradicating groups like this. I'm not expecting to say good bye any time soon.

This is another example of a major government getting sucked into Guerrilla warfare with an enemy that holds mobile positions. It won't end well for occasional civilians or the US governent's budget.

It's sad because the US airstrikes will only fuel the propaganda fire to get locals affected by the airstrikes more interested in joining.

What Iraq needs is a hardcore dictator with a strong army and no patience for other groups trying to takeover his realm....willing to use chemical warfare to deter cells of civil unrest.....Wait....we killed him. :(

It sucks because the area was more stable before, despite the way we looked at it. ISIS is a mix of different kinds of people. It's not just a group of crazy, one dimensional extremists...it's less predictable because of how geographically widespread it is. The subgroups likely have different goals. We can only hope they have internal struggles for power after the american attacks that disrupt them and disband them. I just don't know if airstrikes will be enough.

I'm sure there will be lots of outrage for the evil war monger in the white house from the usual left wing sources/media/celebs. Oh wait, no there won't.

Either way, I'm glad they are taking action against the isis crazies. I'm against boots on the ground, but I'm all for bombing all isis heavy machinery/weapons/equipment/solders into the ground.

I heard n NPR this morning that all key ISIL personnel have moved in with local families, schools, hospitals. The usual tactic.

The Iraqis now have access to Kornets and have been doing a number on ISIS armored vehicles

I don't think that we can make ourselves any more unpopular with the locals than ISIS have made themselves.
