One thing that didn't fly with me was this. They said something about them being able to reprogramm his cpu. WTF? The cpu doesn't get reprogrammed its the software in memory that gets reprogrammed. Once the cpu is set it just is right? The cpu is built of gates and such calculates it using logic right?

Maybe they reprogrammed certain instruction sets. You know, like when Intel came out with "MMX" for the pentium that included "extra" instruction sets. Or perhaps they were referring to "reflashing" his BIOS memory, which may be where his basic instructions are. That way, he might still function similarly, but with a different purpose.

Yeah I get what your saying but saying they reprogrammed his cpu I thought was crap. You can't do that can you? You can build a cpu with new instructions and such but can you reprogramm a cpu that has already been set? Well the reflashing his BIOS type of memory is different to reprogramming his cpu.

Either way I thought that was whacked unless you can actually reprogramme a cpu.

Still enjoyed the film:D Roll on T4

Why do people call it magma earlier in the thread?! T-1000 and Arnie were dropped into a vat of molten metal at a steel works! Pay attention people!

I have not seen T3, but there was a piece of T2 that got cut out of the theatrical release. Where they (John and Sara Connor) did something to reprogram or unlock the CPU within the terminator.

Okay thanks.

But you can't reprogramm a cpu once its been made right?
Transmeta had a reprogrammable CPU.

BTW this was the part where they're in the auto garage and they cut his scalp to get at the port and they pull out the CPU, right? Then Sarah Connor tries to smash it with a hammer but John prevents her?

It's near the end where Arnie has been *changed* by the T-X and hes out to kill John in T3 near the end where they are in the hanger ready to get on the plane. Arnie says she has reprogrammed his cpu so he can't stop what he is doing.

Thanks didn't know Transmeta had a reprogrammable CPU.

So now what about normal CPU's in general? Once they are finished at the factory and sent out you can't reprogramme them right?

eh, some writer that probably knows squat about hardware wrote the script. it doesn't matter. 2nd viewing the movie doesn't hold up.
