No, to a diehard GOP'er that means he's a socialist pussy. Get with the program man, euro's are the biggest socialist wimps on the planet, and don't know their head from their asses. If we weren't there to protect them, they would have surrendered to OBL a long time ago.

Since when is foreign policy experience a pre-requisite to becoming president? Did Clinton, Bush, Reagan, or any other former governor who won the presidency have foreign policy experience?

bush has in the cia for like 30 years, and i think was an ambassador to china, amoung other things

Ok, so theres one. What else? Clinton? Reagan? Nobody questioned Bush Jr's foreign policy experience. Democrats have merely moved the bar for Palin, which makes no sense at all, especially since they gloss over their own candidates shortcomings when trying to attack her.

She doesn't have any, plain and simple. But then again, neither do any of our other candidates that I'm aware of. Its a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

Hasn't Biden been chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for seven years?

Or maybe the more obvious reason is that the Republicans have been harping on foreign policy experience as a qualification for the presidency and then nominated someone with absolutely zero. Surely you can se the disconnect.

I've already mentioned that and it was conveniently ignored.

I can, only given the much higher likelihood of Palin actually ascending to the presidency due to McCain's age. That aside, it doesnt seem like a very wise move for democrats to be publicly comparing their #1 candidate with the Republican's #2. It merely elevates McCain above both of them.

popularity is fleeting and meaningless.

proles in Europe might like the idea of Obama, but I think it's more the idea of "not-Bush." we'll see how quickly the tide changes when Obama's in power.

They need to keep their focus laser-beamed on John McCain. Obama can and will win this election if it is truly between him and McCain. The GOP is smart in putting Palin at the front of the ticket, they know full well McCain stands no chance of winning this thing by himself.

Nah, there have been plenty of US presidents that have been popular overseas. Clinton was a pretty popular guy while he was president. I think we've just gotten used to the world hating us because it has for about the last 8 years. That's not how it has to be.

What is Obama's foreign policy experience???

Uhmm.. the Senate Foreign Relations Committee?

You mean the whole year and a half Obama spent on the Foreign Relations Committee before he decided to run for President?

which was before palin was even governor

[Sigh] Yes and while Palin was governing, Obama was running for President. You see how this works right? A year-and-a-half on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee before deciding to spend all your time running for President, doesn't exactly make you a foreign policy expert. Rather, it gives Obama a smidgen more of foreign policy experience than any other person off the street including Palin.

Does Obama's foreign policy experience beat Palin's? Definitely, but that's like him earning a gold and her earning a silver in the Special Olympics.

And if you want to talk Obama's domestic policy experience, Palin's experience is head and shoulders above his since the largest organization Obama ever ran is his Senate staff.

Yeah, I hear the Senate never deals with domestic policy. For like the 8th time, the significance of Palin is not who has more experience between her and Obama. The significance of this pick is that McCain showed all of us that he was full of shit.

He talked almost exclusively about how his experience was the important factor for choosing a president and then chose a VP who had nearly none. Obama has never claimed that experience was the defining factor of a candidate. McCain has said that the requirements of a VP are 'someone able to succeed him'. With that in mind his choice shows that he never took his own claims of the importance of experience seriously... ie: he was lying to you. Again.

I don't understand how comparing Alaska to the Senate has suddenly become the conversation here when it should be about how full of shit McCain was.

Seriously? She needs to be an expert on one state. Obama, as a United States Senator, needs to not only be an expert on his state, but have at least a decent grasp of issues that affect all states. Plus, as a constitutional lawyer, he has a very thorough grasp on the constitution that's the framework for our country (or used to be). Something a BA in journalism doesn't provide last I checked.

She has none and Obama has none. McCain has some, Biden has the most. Frankly, the idea that democrats can take out the VP pick on experience is tragic comedy. Realistically speaking she does have as much (more in some areas, less in others) experience than Obama and she's not running for president, so this experience fight is one the dems would do well to walk away from.[q[Seriously? [/quote]Oh come on now, any jokes about 57 states aside, if she was top dog executive for an entire state and he was as much a scholar as anything else, we can hardly point to his expertise as superb in this arena.

Rofl. Yes, and she saw how beautiful Georgia was from watching CNN. She told me herself, I swear.

What was JFK's foreign policy experience? How about Reagan? And Clinton? Oh wait...how can a GOVERNOR possibly have foreign policy experience? Jesus Christ, give me a break

Neither Reagan, Clinton, or JFK ever said shit as stupid as, "Well you can see Russia from Alaska", in response to their experience in foreign affairs. That's the difference. If you don't get that, you're an idiot.....or a Republican.

Not to sound to melodramtic, but we currently face several political conflicts throughout the world. We need a level head diplomat to earn our respect back.

Palin said today that we may have to make war with Russia.

She is not off to a good start.....

Geogia is not a member of NATO, she is writing checks we cant cash.

We simply aren't going to police the world and be able to fight terrorism at the same time. Pick your battles.

If we're gonna go after Russia might as well put China on the list too for what they have done to Taiwan.
