all you people talking about Hillary voters have NO CLUE

if this move picks up some Hillary voters, great, but that is at best a tertiary concern

McCain's main problem isn't democrats, it's republicans

there are a ton of conservatives who never cared for McCain, called him a RINO and wished he would switch parties

McCain NEEDS these people to not just be reluctant, lesser-of-two-evils supporters, but to be excited, active contributors giving of there time and money

Palin is a choice that can excite his conservative base and get them out on the battlelines

Romeny, not so much

this is all about ENERGIZING HIS BASE

Suprise surprise, she holds high ranking seats in multiple oil Commissions in Alaska.

HEY GOP FUCKS, OIL IS NOT THE FUTURE.

And you're going to put exactly what in your car for the next decade?

LOL, if she wasn't a looker she'd never be in the position she's in now. Could you imagine a woman that had the same positions as she who was 6'1" that looked like she had an extra pair of Chromosomes being picked to run for VP?

That said, more power to her, it's not easy for a woman in a man's world and Politics is definitely a man's world. If she had to use her looks to get where she's at that's fine, it's what she does when she gets what she's after that counts.

What an insult. Does Condoleesa Rice ring a bell? Not exactly attractive. Hillary Clinton too. You're pathetic.

Yeah, actually the Hillary Clinton comparison you make is an interesting one. We might never know if Hillary Clinton were just Hillary Rodham whether she ever would have been a senator with presidential aspirations-- but we do know for sure that Palin didn't get where she is at by riding on the coattails of her husband.

It's not about desperation, it's about interests. She's obviously putting more interest in her political career than her family. Maybe she'll be like McCain and take the weekends off.

Your right... a women's place is at home! How dare she even think of running as vice-president!

Perhaps she feels like she can handle the pressure. Perhaps her husband can take care of the kids. Surely you don't think she should be at home making cookies, do you?

Your post absolutely reeks of desparation.

BTW, she has more executive experience than Obama.

EDIT: I've said before that I would've been happy with a McCain/Romney Presidency but I don't want this shit. McCain was not thinking about the Presidency. He was thinking about the election.

Please, like anyone here actually believes you would vote for McCain regardless of his VP choice.

Sarah Palin is the obvious choice if he's going for a woman; Kay Bailey Hutchison is another. Everyone in the GOP loves Palin but she's fairly inexperienced (insert Obama joke here), so I don't know if McCain would go for her. If I were a GOP operative, I'd be afraid of Edwardsing her -- she could have a bright future in the party, but once you're known as a losing VP candidate it's tough to come back from that.

I've been thinking it'll be someone boring like Pawlenty or Crist, but then I was saying Bayh all along for Obama and that was wrong, so what do I know?

I doubt Palin.

She is inexperienced, plus she just had a baby. Might be tough to focus on veepeeing with newborn.

Plus we Alaskans like her, a lot (90% approval) - you can't have her yet.

oops.

I was shocked when turned on the radio this morning and heard the news.

Actually I believe her having a child with Down's Syndrome will work in her favor. If McCain somehow wins this election we'll have a potential future President that has hands on experience dealing with the disabled. Unlike Bush and McSame we'd actually have a real compassionate Conservative.

HEY GOP FUCKS, OIL IS NOT THE FUTURE.

It sure the hell is the present and right now is killing the working class. That is Obama's problem he is thinking to much about the future. He has left out anything to bridge us to next gen cars/fuel. We need to drill because it will be 20-30 years before we can get people over to next gen cars/fuel. If a 3rd world country like brazil can get ultra deep water oil in 3 years I think we can get shallow shelf oil very fast.

We have cars that plugin to wall outlets TODAY. What do you think is keeping these things from coming to mass market?

The reason it's going to take 30 years is because the oil companies need time to develop alternative revenue streams. These companies can't let a plugin car come to market because they will lose their ENTIRE revenue base.

A plug in does anyone in the north no good in the winter. You ever see what -20f does to the power of a battery? Also you think everyone can just afford to go out and buy a couple of 20k next gen cars?

It is going to take 30 years because it will take another 10 to find a real alternative. The current electrics are not a alternative unless you live in the south close to work. When they find a real alternative it will take 20 years to turn the fleet of cars over. That still does not address the tracktor trailer that moves the goods to market.

Heh, I wish it only got down to -20F where I live. It has hit -73F at my place during past Winters. :p

She also has a son in the military. 3 of the 4 candidates do at this point, which is interesting.

so should Obama stay home too and put his family first since he has young children? Or is this only because she is a woman?

HE is?> HE has to wint he election forst, and its not looking too likely. I think the polls will tip even more after the debates and Obama stuff him.
