It'll probably be a Marvel chipset, but there are a billion PCIe sata controllers on the market. Somebody above in this thread posted a $30, after rebate, Highpoint 4 port Sata 6Gb/sec PCIe controller.Would you be so kind and give a link to cards that do have four SATA2 ports and do provide Intel RAID just like the chipset does?
I feel so sorry for all of you who already bought Sandy Bridge.

Thank you. You did fail to answer my question. None of the devices that you mention does what I did ask for. :thumbsdown:It'll probably be a Marvel chipset, but there are a billion PCIe sata controllers on the market. in what metric?Had an X6 system, Returned it for a 760 rig which i replaced with SB. X6 couldn't hold a candle to either.
x58 and a 9xxx still competes. (which says a lot) Nothing wrong with X58 at the time. Hotest rod on the market, obviously. It still lacks the bandwith of the x58 chipset.
What expansion slots btw
Ports 0 and 1 on Couger Point, are the 6Gb/sec sata. Laptop manufacturers may well have not have used ports 2-5, the broken 3Gb/sec ports.

Can anyone tell me If the Mobile Intel HM65 Express Chipset is affected by this? I keep hearing P67/H67, but ive also been told that its ALL 2nd Gen i-7 that are affected.
This link here http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2011/01/31/sandy-bridge-chipsets-3.jpg , states that the Mobile Express HM65 is Cougar point, which means its affected??
On my HP DV7 sandy bridge laptops the port ditribution is as follows:
0 - HDD1
1 - HDD2
2 -
3 -
4 - Optical Drive
5 - eSata port
So if Ports 0-1 are unaffected the worst case scenario is optical drive and esata port stop working.
It would help out a lot of Sandy Bridge HP people if you could verify that 0 and 1 are the 6Gb/sec ports. On my HP DV7 sandy bridge laptops the port ditribution is as follows:

1 - HDD2

3 -
4 - Optical Drive

Did you pull down your notebook mate? is there anyway i can check this for myself? im parranoid....
in what metric?
Used the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" tool so not sure if its the actual SataIII ports. Will take the back cover off and see if there are any mainboard markings.

I just looked further into the intel rapid storage technology program, and it states that SATA transfer rate is 3Gbps for ports 0 and 1. port 4 which is my optical drive transfer rate is 1.5gbps, so i dont know whats going on.
Intel Rapid Storage Technology is software, and in general software people don't have the slightest idea about hardware.
Do you have a Sandy Bridge computer? Do you have six sata ports?
If so, port 0, 1 are the 6Gb/sec ports and will not be affected by the Intel recall. Ports 2-5 are the suspect ports.

How many ports does BIOS show you?Yes, i do have a sandy bridge computer, but i wouldnt know how many sata ports i have because its a laptop and its an enclosed unit.
