Any reliable info if this is IDE-to-SATA kinda thing o pure SATA? Also, does it work as a boot drive? In Linux?

great deal indeed. it's pretty quiet, but it's LOUD on the initial spin, espacially when you turn on your computer after you left a dvd/cd in the drive.

Count me as someone with Lite-On probs - got the linked drive to build in a system on a DFI LANParty - nothing but 3 DL coasters so far. And this is with Verbatims.
Any links to workarounds? I'm thinking of just sending it back to ZZF for credit.
