I have the IDE version of this burner and its been great....very quiet. This sata one should be just as good and love the smaller cable....gonna have to spring for one. Thanks op

Nice find. I wish it came in a retail package with a white/beige faceplate too like the Lite-On does. But the Lite-On does not come with lightscribe.

It seems like a good deal but:

Does Samsung make their own drives or is this a re-badge?

Is this like the Plextor SATA burners that were actually IDE with a SATA converter/bridge attached to the back? I heard those were kinda flaky.

I may be mistaken but I believe Samsung makes all of their own drives. From pictures of the rear of the drive their are no converter/bridge adapters.

current drives are identified as "TSST" drives, stands for Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology
