my experiences tell me otherwise. i've been around enough koreans to know how they think (about other races).
you guys have this superiority complex, esp towards other asians. in fact, koreans are probably the most racist bunch i've ever interacted with.

<-- token white guy amongst a bunch of koreans in HS
Lol...yes that is right sir, you know how a race thinks!

Perhaps the Koreans you hung around with are the most racist bunch you've interacted with, but I'm going to LOL at your attempt to generalize even a school full of them to the entire population of Koreans.

Any group of people can be intensely racist and throw off your perception for the whole population.

I can't help but find that as time goes on, my Samsung products that I purchase are worse and worse in regard to quality. Their older items seemed far more sturdy and less prone to problems. I've started trying to push away from them after I found that almost every product I purchased has some "fatal flaw" that Samsung will not acknowledge. As an example, just search up "Samsung DLP white dot" on Google. Another example is how my Samsung 20.1" LCDs have an inherent problem with their DVI circuitry that causes them to lose power randomly, which can crop up at any time (and has on one out of two of my old monitors)... this problem renders that port essentially useless as it will randomly turn off and come back on whenever it just happens to. I found that this problem is also not uncommon in that model.

"Samsung" is a Chaebol it's like if GE owned MS/Apple and a bunch or other businesses but really didnt. More like a family with autonomy. Look it up.

Samsung is a Chaebol, same with LG. The Japanese counterpart is the Keiretsu (Mitsui, Mitsubishi, Sumitomo).

These have been in existence for a long time and have become more integrated over time.

I'm not sure about Korea but in Japan, the companies are so large that they wield massive influence over the government, to the point that often, they are the government. That's what happens when you control double-digit portions of GDP as well as having a massive banking arm.

LK beat me too it. Must read threads first... :$

America is falling behind because of foolish changes to its culture. Once, Americans prided themselves on their innovation and creativity, now, they pride themselves on how much money they can make screwing other people over. American children surround themselves with stupidity and reject education. They are being coddled into a life of mediocrity and consumerism, and they don't even care. America is about to fall. Everyone knows this.

When Asia financial crisis was going down Korean people literally sold their wedding rings and fine china to give $$ to gov and companies to keep them afloat. Totally different mind set. I won't say which is better. Just different. As far as predictions...Almost every invention still come from USA all they can do is copy copy copy like Microsoft does with apple:) Rigidness robotness has it's own problems.

LG will probably make pretty competent android / windows mobile 7 devices in the near future, I haven't really used their mobile phone products (only tv, washing machine / dryer and refrigerator) but even so I believe they're #3 in world mobile phone sales behind only Nokia and Samsung.

what does the current number one LCD TV Manufacturer (Vizio), number one smart phone manufacturer (HTC), computer manufacturer (Asus, Acer), and GPS manufacturer (Garmin) have in common? I'll give you a hint, they're all from the same country.

Basically not a single south korean company has ever been at the top of their field despite all the koreans friends acting like they have. I personally have alot more admiration for my Taiwanese friends- quietly rising without the arrogance to go along with it.

Bah, show some pride. Considering what our predecessors went through and still managed to accomplish, some pride is awesome.

you must either 1) be an offended korean or 2) never been around koreans.
i'm leaning towards 1.

if 2, i'll gladly allow an actual korean (JS80 or yongsta) comment on my post and correct me where i'm wrong.

I like Taiwan too (see earlier post) but

1) Vizio is an American company and they are nowhere near #1 in manufacturing. They are, however, the #1 seller in North America

2) HTC is still ways behind Apple and RIM

But, yeah, I admire Taiwanese companies tremendously. They are like the Israel of East Asia.

I think the "copy copy copy" from USA is an exaggerate stereotype. In our research group, the one company that we fear the most in racing towards productization has always and still is Samsung, and this is true for all companies in our industry. All you have to do is go to any device or semiconductor conference like IEDM, and you see lots of papers are from Samsung. So they're innovating and pushing the envelop and we're trying to catch up.

Uh, Vizio and Garmin are both HQ'ed and founded in the USA.

1) Vizio is just the American export arm of Amtram technology in Taiwan: http://www.amtran.com.tw/ Do you really think a 100 employee company can be the number 1 seller of LCD's in America? ;)

2) Yup, you're right. I was just getting overzealous. They're still behind Symbian, but in the overall marketshare, i believe that puts them at #2.

both of them were established in the United States to import Taiwanese products. At the time, Taiwanese manufacturing was considered 'cheap' by American standards...
